E allora UNA LEZIONE DALLA GRANDE BOXE, PER LA GIORNATA DEDICATA ALLA MEMORIA.
Il GIORNO della MEMORIA è una ricorrenza internazionale celebrata il 27 Gennaio di ogni anno come giornata per commemorare le vittime dell’Olocausto, le persone di origine Ebrea, durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale.
E come non ricordare un riferimento storico molto importante della Storia della Boxe, quindi della cultura Sportiva di tutto il mondo.
Il Pugilato è stato protagonista più volte nel ring della politica e qui voglio oggi ricordare, come figlia della Grande Boxe, per la giornata della MEMORIA che ogni anno si celebra, appunto per non dimenticare, quel orribile massacro, e anche i tanti massacri di altre guerre e genocidi, Ruanda, Bosnia, Ucraina, Armenia, Cambogia…
Il primo match il 19 Giugno, 1936 allo Yankee Stadium, New York, MAX SCHMELING vs JOE LOUIS.
JOE LOUIS, americano, nasce in una grande famiglia con tante bocche affamate nello stato del cotone, l’Alabama.
MAX SCHMELING, tedesco, rappresentava l’ultimo grande Peso Massimo Europeo Campione del Mondo.
SCHMELING vince in uno spettacolare KO contro JOE LOUIS.
Nei 12 mesi seguenti il titolo mondiale dei Pesi Massimi, si sposta dal quadrato del ring per entrare nell’arena politica del potere globale.
SCHEMELING e LOUIS erano gli strumenti dell’immagine del pensiero ostile.
Al di qua e al di là dell’Atlantico, si vide SCHMELING e LOUIS parte seconda, nient’altro che la personificazione del male contro il bene.
MAX SCHMELING venne scelto a simbolizzare la bandiera nazista.

Se SCHEMELING avesse vinto, l’ombra della bandiera nazista avrebbe oscurato gli Stati Uniti.
Se LOUIS trionfava, negri, ebrei, anti-nazisti e chiunque desiderasse un ordine decente senza violenza si sarebbe sentito ricambiato e rassicurato.
In questa notte memorabile allo Yankee Stadium, JOE LOUIS fu la rivincita, la vendetta.
Il “bombardiere nero” trionfa.
JOE LOUIS è il primo Campione del Mondo nero a essere abbracciato dai bianchi d’America.
Lo scrittore di boxe, l’americano JIMMY CANNON scrisse: “JOE LOUIS ha un credito con la sua razza: la RAZZA UMANA”.
Lo straordinario scrittore, Budd Schulberg, ebreo newyorchese che ho avuto il previlegio di intervistare e di diventare amica, voleva intensamente realizzare questa storia con la regia di Spike Lee…Schulberg ci ha lasciato, ma Spike Lee potrebbe volere ancora realizzare questo film.

MAX SCHMELING was chosen to symbolize the Nazi flag.

If SCHEMELING had won, the shadow of the Nazi flag would have overshadowed the United States.
If LOUIS triumphed, Niggers, Jews, anti-Nazis, and anyone who wanted a decent order without violence would feel reciprocated and reassured.
In this memorable night at Yankee Stadium, JOE LOUIS was the revenge.

JOE LOUIS is the first Black World Champion to be embraced by the Whites of America.
The American boxing writer, JIMMY CANNON wrote: “JOE LOUIS has a credit with his race: the HUMAN RACE”.
The extraordinary writer, Budd Schulberg, a New York Jew that I had the privilege of interviewing and becoming friends, intensely wanted to make this story directed by Spike Lee … Schulberg left us, but Spike Lee may still want to make this film.
