IL CIO HA DECISO: FUORI L’IBA o EX AIBA DALLE OLIMPIADI.
È andata come doveva andare! Perdonate se scrivo solo ora ma ragioni diverse mi hanno impedito.
Fa piacere che il tanto sgolarsi abbia avuto una soluzione efficiente all’annoso problema del pugilato dilettantistico.
Nessun organo di governo sportivo è mai stato espulso dal CIO prima, rendendo la decisione dello scorso 22 giugno senza precedenti.
L’International Boxing Association (IBA) o ex AIBA è stata espulsa dal Movimento Olimpico durante la sessione straordinaria del Comitato Olimpico Internazionale (CIO) dello scorso 22 giugno.
Sessantanove membri hanno sostenuto il Comitato Esecutivo del CIO di bandire L’IBA – International Boxing Association – sigla del Pugilato Dilettanti, con un solo voto contrario.
L’espulsione arriva dopo che l’IBA è stato inizialmente sospeso dal CIO nel 2019 per problemi con le finanze, la governance e la credibilità delle competizioni di boxe dilettantistica.
Un rapporto del CIO sulla situazione dell’IBA ha concluso che l’organismo gestito dal presidente Umar Kremlev non aveva soddisfatto le condizioni stabilite per la revoca della sospensione.
Ciò ha portato alla convocazione della Sessione Straordinaria del 22 giugno scorso, in modo che la decisione di cacciare dalle Olimpiadi l’IBA potesse essere approvata.
Prevedo che ci sarà un esodo di tante nazioni verso il World Boxing, il nuovo organismo che si sta formando istituito per cercare di garantire lo status olimpico di questo sport. La cui effettiva creazione sarà il prossimo Novembre 2023.
Avevo tanto auspicato la nascita di nuova organizzazione, e infatti l’IBA o ex AIBA è stata spazzata dal Comitato Olimpico.
Mi auguro che la nuova organizzazione incontri le aspettative del CIO e così essere pronta per richiedere il riconoscimento per le Olimpiadi di Los Angeles 2028. E sembra di capire che sino a quando il CIO non sarà certo continuerà con la sua Task Force come ha fatto per Tokyo, e farà l’anno prossino alle Olimpiadi di Parigi 2024.
USA Boxing, che avrebbe gareggiato in casa a Los Angeles 2028, è stato uno dei primi due paesi a passare al World Boxing- nuovo organismo in formazione- insieme alla Svizzera.
Ma altre nazioni come riportato precedentemente si sono dissocciate dall’IBA o ex-AIBA:
Il direttore esecutivo dell’organo di governo, Mike McAtee, ha affermato che altri 28 paesi hanno dichiarato la loro intenzione di presentare domanda, con altri 18 che si sono rivolti per comprendere il processo di candidatura.
“Abbiamo tutte le ragioni per credere che molti altri seguiranno”, ha detto.
Non ci sono notizie dall’Italia, ma l’anno prossimo dopo le Olimpiadi ci saranno le nuove elezioni della Federazione Pugilistica Italiana, mi auguro senza deleghe alcune…ma in prima persona. Così da affiatarsi con il nuovo movimento all’interno delle Olimpiadi.
E allora tutto il movimento se trasparente e fortemente convinto al meglio può ridare speranza e gioia ai giovani che avanzano, voglio essere più che chiara, sia che partecipino o meno alle Olimpiadi.
La Storia del Pugilato lo ha dimostrato con tanti Campioni!
Non potevo continuare a far finta di nulla. Non è da me che seguo questo sport, le sue vicissitudini da molti anni. I miei campioni così grandi quando sono immensi…Non meritano di essere merce di squali.
Ho tanto battuto che ci fosse un sostanziale punto e a capo. Tutti i giovani che intendono praticare il pugilato non possono essere vittime di quel sistema che ormai ha portato alla deriva la boxe amatoriale, che da sempre ha fatto parte delle discipline sportive delle Olimpiadi.
Il capo del CIO, Thomas Bach ha detto che il Comitato Olimpico aveva un “problema estremamente serio con l’IBA”.
Il direttore generale del CIO Christophe De Kepper ha aggiunto che l’organizzazione ha “raggiunto il punto di non ritorno”.
“Non abbiamo problemi con lo sport del pugilato”, ha detto Bach.
“Non abbiamo problemi con i Pugili.
Apprezziamo la Boxe come uno degli sport più globali.
Se avessimo avuto un problema con i Pugili, non ci sarebbe stata una competizione olimpica a Tokyo 2020, non ci sarà nessuna competizione alle prossime Olimpiadi di Parigi 2024.
Sfortunatamente, come avrai visto dai resoconti abbiamo un problema estremamente serio con l’IBA a causa della loro governance.
Poiché apprezziamo così tanto lo sport del Pugilato, crediamo che i Pugili meritino pienamente di essere governati da una federazione internazionale con integrità e trasparenza”.
L’IBA aveva consegnato al CIO un rapporto di 400 pagine che affermava di affrontare le preoccupazioni.
Il russo Umar Kremlev, presidente dell’IBA o ex-AIBA ha ripetutamente incolpato l’ex presidente, taiwanese CK Wu – l’ex membro del comitato esecutivo del CIO che ha guidato l’organo di governo tra il 2006 e il 2017 – per i problemi dell’organizzazione.
Wu è stato successivamente bandito a vita dall’IBA per “grave negligenza e cattiva gestione finanziaria”, ma non è stato sanzionato dal CIO, che ha lasciato come membro nel 2020, citando un consiglio medico.
La scorsa settimana, Umar Kremlev ha affermato che Wu dovrebbe essere “fucilato” per “aver distrutto la boxe” in commenti che sono stati ampiamente condannati, anche dal CIO.
Il russo ha affermato che l’espulsione sarebbe stata un “grave errore storico” e l’IBA aveva precedentemente affermato che l’ipotesi dell’espulsione era “davvero ripugnante e puramente politica”.
Anche prima dell’era di Kremlev, il CIO si era arrabbiato quando l’IBA aveva nominato presidente Gafur Rakhimov dell’Uzbekistan, un uomo con presunti legami con il traffico di eroina.
De Kepper ha affermato che non sono stati compiuti progressi sufficienti tra la sospensione dell’IBA nel 2019 e oggi e che non sono state soddisfatte le condizioni per il ripristino.
“L’IBA non è riuscita a implementare efficacemente nella sua pratica e attività il principio del buon governo”, ha affermato De Kepper.
“In particolare non si è verificato il drastico cambiamento richiesto nella cultura di governance.
Kremlev, che ha anche causato polemiche consentendo agli atleti russi e bielorussi di competere sotto le proprie bandiere nonostante l’invasione dell’Ucraina, ha spesso indicato l’aumento del premio in denaro offerto agli eventi IBA come motivo per sostenere la sua leadership.
Ma questo ha fatto scattare l’allarme al CIO a causa di un controverso accordo di sponsorizzazione con il gigante del gas russo, Gazprom.
Tutto come ho pubblicamente già in passato descritto. Ho osservato da vicino e la conclusione del CIO mi ha dato ragione. Una gran soddisfazione.
L’IBA ha affermato di non aver rinnovato l’accordo con la compagnia energetica statale russa dopo che era terminato alla fine dello scorso anno, anche se Kremlev aveva chiesto al Congresso di Abu Dhabi solo poche settimane prima se i membri fossero invece contenti di continuare con lo stesso sponsor Gazprom…
“Tutte queste informazioni contraddittorie sembrano essere un segno della mancanza di trasparenza finanziaria e affidabilità dell’IBA”, ha osservato il CIO.
Anche una mossa dell’IBA che ha richiesto ai partner Ernst & Young e PricewaterhouseCoopers di firmare accordi di non divulgazione, in modo che le informazioni non potessero essere condivise, è considerata sospetta da quelli di Losanna, sede del CIO.
“Per quanto riguarda la sicurezza finanziaria è stato notato che l’IBA ha ridotto il suo indebitamento”, ha detto De Kepper.
Resta chiaro che le fonti di ricavo di IBA provenivano principalmente dal precedente contratto con Gazprom.
E finora non sono state dimostrate nuove fonti di reddito da nuovi contratti firmati.
L’assenza di finanziamenti sostenibili e la dipendenza da un ex sponsor di proprietà statale non è stata risolta, il che dimostra che l’IBA non ha posto rimedio alla sua cultura di governance finanziaria”.
Sull’arbitraggio e sulla valutazione, De Kepper ha affermato che l’IBA non ha tenuto conto di quanto imparato dalla Task Force del CIO che ha gestito il torneo di boxe a Tokyo 2020 in assenza dell’IBA.
E questo in seguito agli enormi scandali di giudizi degli arbitri a Rio 2016.
De Kepper ha aggiunto che l’IBA ha inviato comunicazioni agli organismi nazionali che erano in contraddizione con il sistema di qualificazione del CIO, il che potrebbe aver “messo a repentaglio” la capacità del CIO di organizzare la boxe a Parigi 2024.
Questo, ha affermato De Kepper, ha mostrato la totale “mancanza di rispetto” alla comunità della Boxe.
Il CIO ha costantemente e pazientemente cercato di aiutare nelle tre aree di preoccupazione”, ha affermato.
C’è stata una costante mancanza di drastica evoluzione nel corso degli anni.
Si è creata una situazione di non ritorno.
L’IBA non è stata in grado di fornire gli elementi per consentire la revoca della sua sospensione.
Non è possibile giungere ad altra conclusione che concordare con l’analisi del CIO.
La situazione è così grave che l’unica conclusione è revocare il riconoscimento dell’IBA”.
Gioisco per il mio onesto contributo in tutti questi anni, e in questo mio BLOG ho martellato pesante dal 2016 e così reso fortemente pubblico il malaffare dell’IBA ex – AIBA.
La Guerra in Ucraina, se potevo avere qualche dubbio…ma ne ho talmente evidenziati tanti già prima, basta scrollare le mie pagine, il CIO altro non ha fatto che dare la spallata determinante per porre fine a questo malaffare in mix con la politica di Putin a cui il CIO non poteva restare insensibile, alla assolutamente necessaria trasparenza e al sostegno dei giovani che vogliono raggiungere il sogno olimpico tramite il pugilato.
Anche se la Grande Boxe per affermarsi non richiede necessariamente il passaggio obbligato alle Olimpiadi, ma certo il Dilettantismo, la Base è fondamentale alla crescita, allo sviluppo dei nuovi Pro.
E allora un passaggio da Dilettante nelle Olimpiadi è una sfida che fa sognare grande…poi però bisogna diventarlo davvero!

THE IOC HAS DECIDED: OUT OF THE IBA or EX AIBA FROM THE OLYMPIC GAMES.
It went the way it was supposed to go! Forgive me if I write only now but different reasons have prevented me.
It’s nice that the much shouting has had an efficient solution to the age-old problem of amateur boxing.
No sports governing body has ever been expelled from the IOC before, making June 22’s decision unprecedented.
The International Boxing Association (IBA) or former AIBA was expelled from the Olympic Movement during the extraordinary session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on June 22.
Sixty-nine members supported the IOC Executive Committee in banning the IBA – International Boxing Association – abbreviation of Amateur Boxing, with only one vote against it.
The expulsion comes after the IBA was initially suspended by the IOC in 2019 over problems with the finances, governance, and credibility of amateur boxing competitions.
An IOC report on the situation of the IBA concluded that the body run by President Umar Kremlev had not met the conditions set for the suspension to be lifted.
This led to the convening of the Extraordinary Session on 22 June so that the decision to kick the IBA out of the Olympics could be approved.
I predict there will be an exodus of many nations to World Boxing, the newly forming body set up to try and secure the sport’s Olympic status. The effective creation of which will be next November 2023.
I had so much hope for the birth of a new organization, and, the IBA, or former AIBA was swept away by the Olympic Committee.
I hope that the new organization will meet the IOC’s expectations and thus be ready to apply for recognition as an organization for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. And it seems to understand that until the IOC is certain it will continue with its Task Force as it has done for Tokyo, and will make it to the Paris 2024 Olympics next year.
USA Boxing, which would compete on home soil in Los Angeles in 2028, was one of the first two countries to step up to World Boxing alongside Switzerland.
But other countries as previously reported have dissociated themselves from the IBA or ex-AIBA.
The governing body’s executive director, Mike McAtee, said 28 other countries had declared their intention to apply, with 18 more reaching out to understand the application process.
“We have every reason to believe many more will follow,” he said.
There is no news from Italy, but next year after the Olympics there will be new elections for the Italian Boxing Federation, I hope without some proxies… but in person. To get along with the new movement within the Olympics.
And so the whole movement, if transparent and strongly convinced at its best, can restore hope and joy to advancing young people, I want to be more than clear, about whether they participate in the Olympics or not.
Boxing History has proven it with so many champions!
I couldn’t keep pretending nothing happened. It’s not like me that I’ve been following this sport, its vicissitudes for many years. My champions are so big when they are immense…They don’t deserve to be shark merchandise.
I typed so much that there was a substantial full stop. All young people who intend to practice boxing cannot be victims of that system that have now led amateur boxing to drift, which has always been part of the sporting disciplines of the Olympics.
IOC head Thomas Bach said the Olympic Committee had an “extremely serious problem with the IBA”.
IOC director general Christophe De Kepper added that the organization had “reached the point of no return”.
“We have no problem with the sport of boxing,” Bach said.
“We have no problem with the Boxers.
We appreciate Boxing as one of the most global sports.
If we had a problem with Boxers, there would have been no Olympic competition in Tokyo 2020, there will be no competition in the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.
Unfortunately, as you will have seen from the reports we have an extremely serious problem with the IBA due to their governance.
Because we value the sport of boxing so much, we believe that boxers fully deserve to be governed by an international federation with integrity and transparency.”
The IBA had given the IOC a 400-page report which claimed to address the concerns.
Russian Umar Kremlev, president of the IBA or ex-AIBA has repeatedly blamed former president, Taiwanese CK Wu – the former IOC executive committee member who headed the governing body between 2006 and 2017 – for organizational problems.
Wu was subsequently banned for life by the IBA for “gross negligence and financial mismanagement” but was not sanctioned by the IOC, which he left as a member in 2020, citing medical advice.
Last week, Umar Kremlev said Wu should be “shot” for “destroying boxing” in comments that were widely condemned, including by the IOC.
The Russian said that the expulsion will be had been a “grave historical error” and the IBA had previously stated that the idea of expulsion was “very repugnant and purely political”.
Even before the Kremlev era, the IOC had been angry when the IBA appointed Uzbekistan’s Gafur Rakhimov, a man with alleged ties to the heroin trade, as president.
De Kepper said not enough progress had been made between the suspension of the IBA in 2019 and today, and that the conditions for reinstatement had not been met.
“The IBA has failed to effectively implement the principle of good governance in its practice and activities,” said De Kepper.
“Notably, the required drastic change in governance culture has not occurred.
Kremlev, who has also caused controversy by allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete under their flags despite the invasion of Ukraine, has often pointed to the increase in prize money on offer at IBA events as a reason to back his leadership.
But that set off the alarm at the IOC over a controversial sponsorship deal with the Russian gas giant, Gazprom.
All as I have already publicly described in the past. I looked closely and the IOC conclusion proved me right. A great satisfaction.
The IBA said it had not renewed its deal with Russia’s state-owned energy company after it ended late last year, even as Kremlev asked Congress in Abu Dhabi just weeks earlier whether members were happy to continue instead. with the same sponsor Gazprom…
“All this contradicting information seems to be a sign of the IBA’s lack of financial transparency and accountability,” the IOC noted.
A move by the IBA that required partners Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers to sign non-disclosure agreements so information could not be shared is also seen as suspicious by those in Lausanne, home of the IOC.
“In regards to financial security it has been noted that the IBA has reduced its indebtedness,” said De Kepper.
It remains clear that IBA’s revenue sources came mainly from the previous contract with Gazprom.
And no new sources of income from newly signed contracts have been demonstrated so far.
The absence of sustainable finance and reliance on a former state-owned sponsor has not been addressed, which shows that the IBA has not remedied its financial governance culture.”
On refereeing and judging, De Kepper said the IBA failed to take into account learnings from the IOC Task Force that ran the Tokyo 2020 boxing tournament in the IBA’s absence.
And this follows the huge scandals of referee judgments at Rio 2016.
De Kepper added that the IBA sent communications to national bodies that contradicted the IOC’s qualification system, which may have “jeopardized” the IOC’s ability to organize boxing at Paris 2024.
This, said De Kepper, showed the total “disrespect” to the boxing community.
The IOC has consistently and patiently tried to help in the three areas of concern,” he said.
There has been a constant lack of drastic evolution over the years.
A situation of no return has arisen.
The IBA has not been able to provide the elements to allow the revocation of his suspension.
It’s not possible to come to any other conclusion than to agree with the analysis of the IOC.
The situation is so serious that the only conclusion is to withdraw the recognition of the IBA”.
I rejoice for my honest contribution all these years, and in this BLOG of mine, I have hammered hard since 2016 and thus made the underworld of the IBA ex – AIBA strongly public.
The War in Ukraine, if I could have any doubts … but I have already highlighted so many before, just scroll through my pages, CIO has done nothing but gives the decisive push, to put an end to this malfeasance in the mix with Putin’s policy to which the IOC couldn’t remain insensitive to the necessary transparency and support of young people who want to achieve the Olympic dream through boxing.
Even if Great Boxing established itself doesn’t necessarily require the obligatory passage to the Olympics, but certainly the Amateurism, the Basic is fundamental to the growth, to the development of the new Pros.
And then a passage from Amateur to the Olympics is a challenge that makes you dream big… but then you have to become one!
So come on boys and girls from all over the world, it’s the dawn of a new era for the oldest sport in the world, the patriarch of all sports: Boxing
