IVAN ZUCCO 27 anni, mancino di Intra, spettacolare borgo sul Lago Maggiore in Piemonte, é l’unico prospetto per il futuro del pugilato italiano, l’ho scritto nella classifica di fine anno dei miei migliori 2022.
Questa sera all’arena ALLIANZ CLOUD, ma per gli affezionati rimane il PALALIDO di Milano, mette in palio la mezza cintura – WBC International- che ha conquistato lo scorso 22 aprile 2022 vs MARKO NIKOLIC, in due round, infatti il trofeo era vacante e così si è aggiudicato il titolo dei Super Medi con un bel gancio destro.
L’avversario è il londinese GERMAINE BROWN, 28 anni. Non un gran curriculum, nell’ultimo match ha perso il titolo nazionale britannico, ma i due sembrano ben appaiati.
La visibilità è assicurata da due importanti Streaming.
Certo siamo lontani anni luce dai grandi protagonisti che sino ad un paio di anni fa han dettato legge nel firmamento mondiale quale il kazako GENNADY GOLOVKIN il più temuto della categoria con quella gran classe e con quella mano pesante. Certo da SAUL “Canelo” ALVAREZ.
Domani, sabato sera all’MGM Grand di Las Vegas c’è un’altra disputa per la cintura ad – Interim del WBC-, anche questa non è titolo pieno, nei Pesi Super Medi tra due americani, CALEB PLANT vs DAVID BENAVIDEZ.
Se BENAVIDEZ supera PLANT può succedere che il messicano più adulato e più combattivo dei nostri tempi si accorga che non può sottovalutare l’offerta… sempre che BENAVIDEZ superi l’intemperie di PLANT…
Ho un ricordo indelebile di questa spettacolare categoria, del nostro CRISTIAN SANAVIA – pieno titolo Mondiale WBC. E del nostro- mi perdonino gli amici inglesi se ho sempre considerato JOE CALZAGHE “The Italian Dragon” ma certo anche immenso Drago Gallese…
E poi una nostalgia infinita per quel torneo magico, che ha prodotto gli spettacoli di boxe più belli in questa categoria di peso, appunto il SuperSix Series, dell’inimitabile scuderia SAUERLAND.
Battaglie tra il meglio vs il meglio. Oggi difficile da vedere giacché le TV non si mettono in gioco…E certo investire così tanto danaro e rischiare di perderlo in una notte…Ma anche la temerarietà dei protagonisti ha un prezzo che va pagato non con due spiccioli…E chi non rischia si accontenta.
Poi saltando qui e là, c’è la nostra Guardia Costiera, MATTEO “il giaguaro” SIGNANI che se provi a metterlo in dubbio, ti stupisce, e non c’è modo che molli la Cintura di Campione Europeo della categoria dei MEDI; allora mi rendo conto che non è il solo e mi vien subito in mente la potenza di GIOVANNI DE CAROLIS…Ragazzi oltre gli anta ma che han tenuto in vita l’orgoglio della Boxe in Italia.
Vedrei bene un rematch tra questi due un tempo già avversari. La Guardia Costiera romagnola, lo castigò e lo mise in Knock Down…non sono certa che tra i due si sia esaurito tutto in quella notte. Ma la boxe non è un gioco da ragazzi…
Potrei andare più indietro negli anni, i Pesi Medi, i Pesi Super Welter, i Welter hanno inciso nella maestosità di questo Nobile Sport. Più vado indietro più la grandezza diventa maestosità.
Meno regole, più rischio e tanta temerarietà.
Erano altre generazioni con orgoglio e grande senso di fratellanza.
Perché la Boxe italiana si è tanto impoverita, l’ho esposto, scritto più volte.
Ma tanté questa sera è di scena ZUCCO sembra davvero un promettente Pro, e non so come mi torna in mente la citazione mormorata da Galileo Galilei, nella sua difesa di fronte alla Santa Inquisizione riferendosi alla Terra: “Eppur si muove…!
E dunque questa è la notte del nuovo che prova ad avanzare e allora non ho dubbi, mi fido del mio intuito, l’analisi è presto fatta, IVAN ZUCCO è carico e sogna in grande, ha fatto il peso con la bandiera sulle spalle, e dunque se non è uno sbruffone, deve dimostrarsi all’altezza.. Le mie indagini, il mio intuito è l’unico che ascolto.

Anche se ha perso vs la star messicana SAUL “canelo” ALVAREZ, PLANT tra i due, è il mio favorito. PLANT Via UD!

IVAN ZUCCO ai punti dei tre giudici, 99-91. Ha vinto bene, pulito, gli serve un faro…per diventarlo a sua volta. Ma bene così.
La scarica di adrenalina è arrivata dai due contendenti al Titolo Italiano per i Pesi Super Welter, fuochi d’artificio da entrambi CRISTIAN MAZZON vs FRANCESCO RUSSO. Knock Down per entrambi, di nuovo in piedi, guardia bassa non controllata, guardia alta troppo guardinga, aggiustamenti e via gancio su gancio si è imposta l’inesauribile volontà di vittoria di MAZZON che fa crollare con un preciso sinistro al mento RUSSO al 4°round. L’arbitro giustamente ferma l’incontro. Bel match! Complimenti.

DAVID BENAVIDEZ ai punti: 117-111, 116 -112, 115-113. Sembrava volgere al meglio per CALEB PLANT nei primi sei round quando é stato in costante movimento, poi ha deciso di andare corpo a corpo vs BENAVIDEZ…ma la potenza e la pressione implacabili di BENAVIDEZ alla fine lo hanno logorato. Gran match di alto livello, tutto per i fans in delirio…

AND YET IT MOVES…IVAN ZUCCO vs GERMAINE BROWN
IVAN ZUCCO 27 years old, a southpaw from Intra, a spectacular village on Lake Maggiore in Piedmont, is the only prospectus for the future of Italian boxing, I wrote it in the year-end ranking of my best 2022.

It seemed to be looking his best for CALEB PLANT in the first six rounds when he was in constant motion, then he decided to go toe-to-toe vs BENAVIDEZ…but BENAVIDEZ’s relentless power and pressure finally wore him down. Great high-level fight, all for the delirious fans…
