GIANCARLO GARBELLI vs LASZLO PAPP per i Pesi Medi – Nessun Titolo in palio:la  Politica entra nello Sport! “…La mia mascella era forse d’acciaio…? Certo. Nessuno ti può insegnare la mascella! Viene dal profondo, nasce dal cuore.”

LASZLO PAPP- Ungheria, Budapest 1926-2003- dopo aver conquistato per ben 3 volte la Medaglia d’ Oro nei Pesi Medi, in 3 Olimpiadi, LONDRA 1948, HELSINKI 1952, e MELBOURNE 1956, dove commosse il mondo, mentre l’Ungheria resisteva all’invasore sovietico. PAPP nel 1957 diventa professionista, malgrado l’ostruzionismo della dittatura comunista, nell’ UNGHERIA della Cortina di Ferro.

PAPP amava l’Italia, e nel 1960, con un permesso esclusivo e temporaneo, ha l’occasione di una ricca borsa vs GIANCARLO GARBELLI, senza titolo in palio, sul ring di Milano.

Le leggende s’incontrano anche senza titoli in palio, si tratta di classe mondiale.

Del resto PAPP non era venuto per perdere qualcosa, ma per guadagnare quattrini e possibilmente tornare in patria solido come era partito. Nessuno dei pesi medi, dell’ epoca, accettava il combattimento con PAPP, e Benvenuti e Mazzinghi (ben 12 anni più giovani…) attesero che PAPP abbandonasse l’attività e non erano comunque pronti, sino a che c’era in giro LASZLO PAPP.

GIANCARLO “Il Fighter d’Italia” GARBELLI- Milano, 1931-2013, voleva solo i migliori, e vince. Il mancino ungherese, sferra una grandinata di pesanti montanti, GARBELLI li prevede, PAPP incessante colpo su colpo tira di tutto,  nulla può contro l’italiano che lo umilia potente,  con una tempesta di sinistri e destri facendogli piegare le ginocchia per ben tre volte, indimenticabile.

GARBELLI, amatissimo dal pubblico, stampa e TV lo consacrano, diventando leggenda immortale, tra i grandissimi nel mondo. E senza abbracciarsi alla politica. Del resto suo padre, mio nonno, aveva già dato…

Il verdetto al termine dei dieci round è un pari politico, per così dare l’opportunità all’ungherese, di continuare la carriera professionistica. Non sarebbe potuto rientrare in patria sconfitto… l’Italia era in piena Democrazia Cristiana. Il comunismo, nella Repubblica Popolare d’Ungheria, durò sino 1989.

LASZLO PAPP, un molosso, non accetterà un secondo match VS GIANCARLO GARBELLI. In seguito PAPP conquistò il titolo Europeo a Vienna, ma non gli fu mai concesso il passaporto per gli USA per combattere il titolo mondiale verso JOEY GIARDELLO. PAPP, record pro, si ritira con 27 match vinti, 2 pari.

GARBELLI, record pro, si ritira dal ring con 99 match, 74 vinti, 11 pari.

Nessuno dei due ha mai subito un KO! Entrambi sono onorati dalla Cintura WBC, Consiglio Mondiale di Pugilato,  di Campione del Mondo ad honorem.

L’immortalità della Gloria di GIANCARLO GARBELLI e LASZLO PAPP è nella Leggenda che scolpisce la Storia della Grande Boxe.

                  …AND THE SCENT OF FREEDOM IS OLYMPIC GOLD.

LASZLO PAPP-Hungury, Budapest 1926-2003- after winning for 3 times the Gold Medal in the  3 Olympics Games, as Middleweight in LONDON 1948, HELSINKI 1952, and MELBOURNE 1956, which moved the world, while Hungary resisted Soviet invaders.

PAPP became a professional in 1957, despite the obstructionism of the Communist dictatorship in Hungary of the Iron Curtain. PAPP loved Italy, and in 1960, with an exclusive, temporary permit, has the chance to a rich purse vs GIANCARLO GARBELLI, no title at stake, in the ring of Milano.

Legends meet even without titles on stake, it’s about world-class.

LASZLO PAPP didn’t come to lose anything, but to gain money and try going back to solid as he was when leaving.

No one middleweight of the time wanted to fight PAPP,  and  Benvenuti and Mazzinghi (already 12 yrs youngers…) waited for Papp to quit the activity and anyway, they weren’t ready until LASZLO PAPP was around.
GIANCARLO “Il Fighter d’Italia” GARBELLI -Italy, Milano 1931-2013- wanted only the best, and won. The Hungarian southpaw, with a heavy storm of uppercuts,  didn’t surprise GARBELLI. PAPP throws everything,  against the Italian,  who humiliates big his opponent, with beautiful bluster of left and right, making him bend on his knees three times, unforgettable.

GARBELLI, beloved by the audience,  press, and TV consecrate him, became an immortal legend, among the greatest in the world. And without embracing politics. Well his father, my grandfather, had already given…

The verdict at the end of ten rounds is a political draw, in order to give the Hungarian opportunity, to continue their professional career. It would not have been possible to return home defeated …  Italy was in full Christian Democratic Party. Communism, in the People’s Republic of Hungary, lasted until 1989.

LASZLO PAPP, a mastiff, will not accept the rematch VS GIANCARLO GARBELLI. After GARBELLI, PAPP won the European title in Vienna, but he was never granted a passport for the USA to fight for the world title vs JOEY GIARDELLO.

PAPP, pro record, retires with 27 wins, 2 draws. GARBELLI, pro record, retires with 99 fights, 74 wins, and 11 draws. Neither one nor the other suffered KO!

Both are honored by WBC -World Boxing Council – with the honorem Belt as World Boxing Champions

The immortality of the Glory, of GIANCARLO GARBELLI and LASZLO PAPP, is in the Legend that sculpts Boxing History.
