Oggi 1 Novembre per ricordare i Martiri, ovvero le persone che hanno testimoniato la fede cristiana nonostante le violenze e le persecuzioni subite. I Martiri divenuti Santi.

Erasmo da Rotterdam scrisse «Il cuore ha sempre ragione» e la natura «infuse nell’uomo più passione che ragione perché tutto fosse meno triste». Ecco io penso è ciò che rappresentano i Santi che oggi festeggiamo.

Questi anni Venti dalla pandemia, alla guerra in Ucraina e ora contemporaneamente nel Medio Oriente sono anni d’angoscia. La tristezza è un’altra cosa.

Pregiamo i nostri Morti, domani 2 Novembre è il loro giorno, ricordiamoli per trovare conforto nella gioia dei tempi felici che certo ci sono stati. E tutti speriamo, intensamente desideriamo che ce ne saranno molti altri ancora.

Mai nulla di facile, Uniti contro il terrore si è forti, non è un gioco. Il terrore va sconfitto, scardinato, soppresso. Uniti si vince.

Neither trick nor treat, today we commemorate ALL SAINTS.

Today November 1st to remember the Martyrs, i.e. the people who testified to the Christian faith despite the violence and persecution they suffered. Martyrs who became Saints.

Erasmus of Rotterdam wrote «The heart is always right» and nature «infused man with more passion than reason so that everything was less sad». This is what I think is what the Saints we celebrate today represent.

These twenties from the pandemic, to the war in Ukraine and now simultaneously in the Middle East are years of anguish. Sadness is something else.

Let’s pray to our Dead, tomorrow November 2nd is their day, let’s remember them to find comfort in the joy of the happy times that certainly existed. And we all hope, intensely wish that there will be many more.

Nothing is ever easy, United against terror we are strong, it’s not a game. Terror must be defeated, undermined, and suppressed. United we win.
