La Boxe che conta: CHANTELLE CAMERON domina la “boxeuse” ELHEM MEKHALED

CAMERON vs MEKHALED per il titolo WBC Interim Super Leggeri, si è rivelato match più attraente dal vivo che sulla carta, ieri sera al Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, GB.

Gli scambi roventi degli ultimi due minuti dell’ultimo round hanno entusiasmato i 5.000 presenti.

L’inglese CHANTELLE CAMERON – 20 match 8 via KO, 1 perso. Con potenza e classe agonistica si è imposta sulla franco-algerina ELHEM MEKHALED, decisamente inferiore in qualità pugilistica, ma determinata a non mollare l’impresa.

MEKHALED 20 match di cui 3 vinti via KO, 3 persi; pugile reattiva, evidente l’ottima preparazione atletica, ha incassato di tutto anche troppo dalla solida CAMERON.

Entrambe 33 anni.

CAMERON ha alle spalle il titolo di Campionessa INDISCUSSA in due categorie di peso: sia Pesi Leggeri che Super Leggeri.

MEKHALED un palmares modesto, anche nullo, ma ieri sera la “boxeuse” ha dimostrato cuore sino in fondo.

L’inglese oggi “star” della categoria Super Leggeri seconda solo a KATYE TAYLOR con cui ha prima vinto e poi perso in due sensazionali match. Il 2°match molto equilibrato ha visto l’irlandese vincere per pochi svolazzi in più ma i segni lasciati di CAMERON han decretato appena una Decisione Maggiore. Dunque una vittoria, sì per TAYLOR ma non proprio convincente.

Il match di ieri sera ha avuto un bel ritmo imposto dall’inglese a cui la franco-algerina le si è ben adattata, ma non riuscendo però a scalfire la netta superiorità di CHANTELLE CAMERON, ma certo ha allungato l’applauso del pubblico per la resistenza di MEKHALED al suo combattimento più duro di tutta la sua carriera. Resistere contro una tale rivale anche con poche risorse, è prova di carattere.

Il punteggio netto per CAMERON 99-92 e 98-92 non giustifica un cartellino di pareggio 95-95.  Ci sono stati un paio di buoni round per franco-algerina, più minuta, viene dai pesi piuma, rispetto alla compatta inglese, più a suo agio nei Super Leggeri.

La franco-algerina più coreografia che sostanza.

CAMERON, ex Campionessa INDISCUSSA, ha impressionato con il suo destro nello strepitoso 4°round. Ha continuato al volto e al corpo a strapazzare MEKHALED che disposta a tutto per non subire, ha mostrato una volontà mentale superiore a ciò che effettivamente il suo fisico poteva sostenere.

MEKHALED ha provato con qualche scambio incessante ma non incisivo. Molto a guardia alta in difesa e la tanta mobilità l’ha salvata da un punizione più severa.

MEKHALED ha dato tutto quanto aveva, come una vera “boxeuse”, lo stato d’animo c’era tutto e questo basta per una onorevole sconfitta.

CHANTELLE CAMERON dominatrice del ring, quella sicurezza da Campionessa che le basta poco per far fumare i guantoni ha avuto vita facile su una guerriera sì ma non altrettanto armata.

Siamo da tempo nell’era delle Donne Pro che hanno il circuito di match regolare e dove le francesi si sono affermate in match competitivi. Penso a Myriam Lamare ad Anne Sophie Mathis, eccelse protagoniste. La strada è dunque spianata, le borse sono diventate interessanti e in qualche caso anche molto sostanziose come il prossimo match che avrà impatto planetario…

Il match che davvero conta si farà a Riyadh…oppure nel cuore di Londra. Rifare l’incontro in Irlanda non sarebbe corretto. Si tratta del 3° match per concludere la trilogia tra l’inglese CAMERON vs TAYLOR Irlanda, per il titolo vero e pieno WBC.

Il Meglio vs il Meglio è l’adrenalina che fa girare la Grande Boxe.

CAMERON vs MEKHALED for the WBC Interim Super Lightweight title proved to be a more attractive match live than on paper last night at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, GB.

The fiery exchanges in the last two minutes of the final round thrilled the 5,000 people present.

The English CHANTELLE CAMERON – 20 fights 8 via KO, 1 lost. With power and competitive class, she prevailed over the French-Algerian ELHEM MEKHALED, decidedly inferior in boxing quality, but determined not to give up on the challenge.

MEKHALED 20 fights of which 3 won via KO, 3 lost; reactive boxer, excellent athletic preparation is evident, she took on everything, even too much, from the solid CAMERON.

Both are 33 years old.

CAMERON has the title of UNDISCUSSED Champion in two weight divisions: both Lightweight and Super Lightweight.

MEKHALED a modest palmares, even zero, but last night the “boxeuse” showed heart to the end.

Today’s Englishwoman is the “star” of the Super Lightweight division, second only to KATYE TAYLOR with whom she first won and then lost in two sensational thriller fights. The very close 2nd match saw the Irishwoman win by a few more flourishes but the marks left by CAMERON just decreed a Major Decision. So a victory, yes for TAYLOR but not exactly convincing.

Last night’s fight had a nice rhythm imposed by the Englishwoman to which the French-Algerian adapted well, but was unable to undermine the clear superiority of CHANTELLE CAMERON, but certainly lengthened the audience’s applause for the MEKHALED’s endurance in her toughest fight of her entire career. Standing against such a rival even with few resources is a test of character.

The net score for CAMERON 99-92 and 98-92 does not justify a draw result of 95-95 for the third card. There were a couple of good rounds for the French-Algerian, smaller, she comes from featherweight, compared to the compact Englishwoman, who is more at ease in Super Lightweight.

The Franco-Algerian is more choreography than substance.

CAMERON, former UNDISPUTED champion, impressed with her right hand in the amazing 4th round. She continued insisting on MEKHALED face and body and was willing to do anything to avoid suffering, she showed a mental will greater than what her physical body could sustain.

MEKHALED tried with some incessant but not incisive exchanges. Very guarded in defense and her great mobility saved her from a more severe punishment.

MEKHALED gave everything she had, like a true “boxeause”, in fact the state of mind was all there and this was enough for an honorable defeat.

CHANTELLE CAMERON dominating the ring, that confidence of a Champion that doesn’t take much for her to make her gloves smoke, had an easy life on a warrior yes but not as armed.

We have long been in the era of Pro Women  Boxing, who have the regular match circuit and where French women have established themselves in competitive matches. I think about the last great names, Myriam Lamare and Anne Sophie Mathis, excellent protagonists.

The road is therefore clear, the purses have become interesting and in some cases even very substantial like the next fight which will have a global impact…

Will the fight that matters take place in Riyadh…or in the heart of London? Going back to Ireland wouldn’t be fair.

This will be the 3rd match to conclude the trilogy between the Englishwoman CAMERON vs TAYLOR Ireland, for the true and full WBC title.
