VASYL LOMACHENKO vs DEVIN HANEY questa notte all’MGM Grand di Las Vegas, match valido per le Cinture IBF, WBA, WBC, WBO dei Pesi Super Leggeri.

Questa è la notte di “LOMA”, l’ucraino 35 anni, che ha combattuto e vinto tutti sino a perdere tre Cinture, IBF, WBA, WBO in una notte buia e tempestosa del 17 ottobre 2020 vs TEOFIMO LOPEZ.

Un azzardo a 35 anni continuare a boxare, i Pesi piccoli bruciano tutto e in fretta. Solo i Pesi Massimi è concesso arrivare a 40/42 anni, con le dovute eccezioni, vedi l’immenso MANNY PACQUAIO, stessa scuderia di BOB ARUM. E certo il potente GEORGE FOREMAN. E l’affabulatore BERNARD HOPKINS.

Per LOMACHENKO dopo quella notte che a me è parso un incidente di percorso, la guerra in Ucraina, che lo ha reclamato tra le reclute riserviste militari. Il morale non proprio alto per credere di poter tornare sul Ring. BOB ARUM al di là dell’Atlantico che reclamava il suo campione, lo stop alla guerra.

Gli ucraini ci hanno ricordato, non insegnato, ciò che i pugili contemporanei hanno dimenticato: si vince incontrando il migliore.

Meglio però che io dica che più che colpa dei pugili, è degli organizzatori e delle TV e streaming che investendo non vogliono mettere a rischio le proprie galline dalle uova d’oro.

Di questi tempi con tanti player in rete e TV, e i grandi campioni di boxe che sono da sempre merce rara, è una vera sfida.

Ma al mio occhio scrutatore non sono mai sfuggiti i migliori tra i migliori…

BOB ARUM, classe 1931, il “Re degli Organizzatori di Boxe” è uno a cui piace il rischio, organizza come piacerebbe ai fans, e dunque questa notte mette a confronto due campioni della sua stessa scuderia, sullo stesso ring, il meglio vs il meglio: HANEY vs LOMACHENKO.

DEVIN HANEY nei suoi splendidi 24 anni americano di San Francisco, detiene tutte e quattro le cinture dallo scorso giugno 2022.

È certo una notevole novità nel panorama mondiale. Ma non ha l’esperienza, la motivazione, la determinazione di “un combattente in guerra” quale LOMACHENKO. Una realtà.

Non dovrebbero esserci cartellini dai risultati ambigui, con LOMA sul Ring, con così alto quoziente intellettivo e cotanto talentuoso pedigree. No, non saranno perdonate sviste dei giudici.

Certo c’è il fattore forza della gioventù dei 24 anni di HANEY…ma se LOMA non invecchia in una notte, non ne faccio segreto, io ci tengo a LOMA!

Immagino un LOMA aggressivo che ferma HANEY sullo sgabello…

Questo 20 Maggio 2023, è una grande Notte di Boxe. Tra poche ore si accendono le luci anche all’Arena di Monza, per la Cintura Europea dei Pesi Gallo, ALESSIO LORUSSO vs THOMAS ESSEOMBA, inglese nativo del Camerun.

Un bel pugile, LORUSSO, l’ho scoperto sin da subito, scatto felino e ora nuovo orgoglio dell’EBU.

Il comasco ALESSIO LORUSSO,  fantasista, imprevedibile, umorale…confermerà il suo titolo, penso a un colpo definitivo prima del limite.

LORUSSO è un piccolo gioiello di ottima fattura artigianale. Può dare gran spettacolo. Ha 27 anni è nel picco per realizzare il prossimo tentativo di una cintura mondiale.

Che nessuno osi mettere in dubbio la potenza del motore che si sprigiona dal circuito di Monza…l’Arena del match è proprio lì: all’Arena di Monza.

Notte di Boxe anche per i Pesi Super Leggeri Donne, alla 3 Arena di Dublino, in Irlanda, a casa di KATIE TAYLOR che per la prima volta combatte da Pro nella sua terra, vs l’inglese CHANTELLE CAMERON.

CAMERON di Northampton (17-0, 8 KO) ha realizzato il suo sogno di una vita battendo l’americana Jessica McCaskill per la corona indiscussa dei pesi Super Leggeri lo scorso novembre.

KATIE TAYLOR combatte in casa e come si sa, rinfranca il morale. KATIE è una che accetta le sfide, ve detto che le donne PRO se la giocano davvero tutta. Del resto per affermare il pugilato femminile non servono giri di parole, è il Ring che parla…Match in 10 round di 2 minuti.

KATIE questa notte sale di categoria di peso dai Pesi Leggeri ai Super Leggeri e intende così consolidare la sua storia, conquistando il bottino dall’inglese CAMERON che lo aveva strappato lo scorso 2022 dall’americana JESSICA McCASKIL; che a sua volta lo aveva vinto nel 2021 dalla norvegese, CECILIA BRAEKHUS; che ha ceduto il suo regno dopo 11 anni tutti i trofei…

CECILIA l’ho ricordata spesso è stata determinante per il successo spettacolare della boxe femminile in tutto il mondo, dall’Europa, agli USA un trionfo dopo l’altro.

Classe, determinazione, autostima conquistata round dopo round sui migliori Ring del pianeta, grande rigore e una risata contagiosa.

Peccato che proprio stamattina ha dovuto rinunciare al match nello stesso ring di Dublino con in palio i titoli WBA e IBO dei Super Welter, detenuti dall’inglese TERRI HARPER, 27 anni.

Stava bene sino a ieri alle operazioni di peso, era perfetta, ma Cecilia si è svegliata con una brutta influenza e febbre alta. E così obbligata a malincuore ha rinunciato al match. Cecilia non è sostituibile, e poi così all’ultimo minuto.

Un sogno grande svanito in fretta e per CECILIA e per TERRI HARPER.  L’inglese combatterà il prossimo fine settimana a Manchester, sicuramente con una nuova avversaria ancora da identificare.

E niente, conoscendo CECILIA so che si sarò scusata con l’organizzazione e con la sua avversaria…e tornerà presto in forma. Non mollerà facilmente.

Dublino sarà in delirio, musica a palla. Nei pub fiumi di birra per KATIE TAYLOR.

LOMACHENKO come lo sarebbe stata BRAEKHUS sono combattenti disperati. Arrivati all’apice, sono caduti.

Ora la loro carriera è in gioco, e tutto in una notte. Anzi in due notti, perchè auguro con tutto il cuore, un’altra e più grande notte di boxe. “Dai CECILIA presto in forma!”

POST-SCRIPTUM AGGIORNAMENTO h 00:42 del 21 Maggio

Dublino. Bellissimo match! CAMERON è stata il boss del ring. Più alta, più grossa! TAYLOR molto preparata, il suo collo mai visto così solido in un corpo femminile, sapeva di aver accettato un’avversaria di gran livello.
CAMERON più potente. TAYLOR più mobile. L’8° round un gran bel round. Anche il 10° TAYLOR ganci al corpo e al volto. CAMERON in constante pressione. Non le ha dato mai tregua.
I cartellini dei giudici: 95-95, 96-94, 96-94 per l’inglese CHANTELLE CAMERON vince per Decisione Maggioritaria. Verdetto che annuncia la rivincita. E Dublino la reclama, vuole il riscatto per la grande Boxe che negli ultimi anni gli era stato – (giustamente)- sottratto.

🥊🥊Monza. DELUSIONE PER ALESSIO LORUSSO che non c’era proprio con la testa.

Così i cartellini dei giudici per il vincitore THOMAS ESSEOMBA 116-112, 117-111, 116-112.  L’inglese del Camerun più veloce, molto preparato e si è aperto sfidando sin da subito l’italiano, ESSEOMBA lo ha pressato come sicuramente ALESSIO non si aspettava. Nonostante entrambi mancini, LORUSSO non ha avuto quei riflessi pronti che nei Pesi Gallo, sono la regola di base. E così la Cintura EBU dei Pesi Gallo è volata in UK! Ricominciare per riconquistare…

Las Vegas. I giudizi sbagliati non fanno bene alla Boxe. Così i cartellini per DEVIN HANEY: 116-112, 115-113 e 115-113 

I giudici di gara americani, (tutti e tre) non ha ancora imparato il Fair Play. Dare a Cesare ciò che è di Cesare. Punto.

Non sono concorde con i cartellini dei giudici, sembra che io e altri analisti e certo il pubblico abbiamo visto un altro match. A mio parere l’ucraino VASYL  LOMACHENKO ha vinto cristallino per Decisione Unanime. La faccia di HANEY la dice tutta.

E c’è dell’altro, mai sentito dirlo prima di stamani, il “Re degli Organizzatori” BOB ARUM a caldo con il microfono ha detto sia a LOMACHENKO che a suo Padre, che aveva vinto e facile!

Ora ci deve essere la rivincita! E con tre giudici di tre diversi continenti. Magari uno Europeo e uno Asiatico, o il mondo è circoscritto negli USA?

Non si gioca alla Boxe. Non si gioca con i cartellini…

VASYL LOMACHENKO vs DEVIN HANEY tonight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, a fight valid for the IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO Super Lightweight Belts.

This is the night of “LOMA”, the 35-year-old Ukrainian, who fought and won all until losing three Belts, IBF, WBA, and WBO on a dark and stormy night of October 17, 2020, vs TEOFIMO LOPEZ.

A gamble at 35 years old, to keep on boxing, the small weights burn everything quickly.

Only the Heavyweights are allowed to reach the age of 40/42, with due exceptions, see the immense MANNY PACQUAIO, the stable team of BOB ARUM. And of course the mighty GEORGE FOREMAN. And the snake charmer… BERNARD HOPKINS.

For LOMACHENKO after that night that seemed to me an accident, the war in Ukraine, which claimed him among the military reservist recruits. Not exactly have high morale to believe he can return to the Ring.

The Ukrainians have reminded us, not taught us, what contemporary boxing has forgotten: you win by matching the best.

However, I better say that more than the fault of the fighters, it’s the promoters and the TV and streaming companies who, by investing, don’t want to jeopardize their hens that lay golden eggs.

These days with so many players on the net and TV, and the great boxing champions who have always been a rare commodity, it’s a real challenge.

But the best of the best have never escaped my scrutinizing eye…

BOB ARUM, born in 1931, the “King of Boxing Promoters” is someone who likes risk, organizes as the fans would like, and therefore tonight put in front of each other two champions of his stable, in the same ring.  The best vs the best: HANEY vs LOMACHENKO.

DEVIN HANEY in his fantastic 24 years, American from San Francisco, holds all four belts since last June 2022.

It’s undoubtedly remarkable news on the boxing world scene. But he doesn’t have the experience, motivation, or determination of “a fighter in war” like LOMACHENKO—a truth.

There should be no ambiguous results, with LOMA in the Ring, with such a high IQ and such a talented pedigree. No, oversights by the judges will not be forgiven.

Of course, there is the strength factor of HANEY’s 24-year-old youth… but if LOMA doesn’t get old overnight, I’m not making a secret of it, I care about LOMA!

I imagine an aggressive LOMA stopping HANEY on the stool…

This May 20, 2023, is a great Boxing Night. In a few hours, the lights will also turn on at the Monza Arena, for the European Bantamweight Belt, ALESSIO LORUSSO vs THOMAS ESSEOMBA, an Englishman native of Cameroon.

A nice boxer, LORUSSO, I discovered right away, a feline snap, and now the new pride of the EBU Belt.

Northampton’s CAMERON (17-0, 8 KOs) fulfilled his lifelong dream by beating American Jessica McCaskill for the undisputed Super Lightweight crown last November.

KATIE TAYLOR fights at home and as we know, restores morale. KATIE is someone who accepts challenges, I can tell you that PRO Women Boxing really plays it all. After all, to affirm Women’s Boxing you don’t need to mince words, it’s the Ring that speaks…Fight in 10 rounds of 2 minutes.

KATIE tonight rises in the weight category from Lightweight to Super Lightweight and thus intends to consolidate her history, conquering the booty from the English CAMERON who had snatched it last 2022 from the American JESSICA McCASKIL; who in turn had won it in 2021 from the Norwegian, CECILIA BRAEKHUS; that you gave up her kingdom all the trophies after 11 years…

CECILIA I have often remembered her she was instrumental in the spectacular success of Women’s Boxing all over the world, from Europe to the USA one triumph after another.

Class, determination, and self-esteem conquered round after round on the best rings on the planet, great rigor, and a contagious laugh.

Too bad that just this morning he had to give up the match in the same ring in Dublin with the WBA and IBO Super Welterweight titles up for grabs, held by the 27-year-old Englishman TERRI HARPER.

She was fine up until yesterday at the weigh-in, she was perfect, but CECILIA woke up with bad flu and a high fever. And so she forced reluctantly and withdrew from the fight. Cecilia is not replaceable, and then so at the last minute.

A big dream quickly vanished for CECILIA and for TERRI HARPER. The English girl will fight next weekend in Manchester, certainly with a new opponent yet to be identified.

And nothing… knowing CECILIA I know that she will have apologized to the organization and to her opponent … and will be back in shape soon. She won’t give up easily.

🥊🥊Dublin. Beautiful fight! CAMERON was the boss of the ring. Taller, bigger! TAYLOR was very prepared, her neck had never seen so solid in a female body, and she knew she had accepted a high-level opponent.
CAMERON was more powerful. TAYLOR was more mobile. The 8th round was a great round. Also the 10th TAYLOR hooks to the body and face. CAMERON worked hard,  pressuring all night.
The judges’ cards: 95-95, 96-94, 96-94, the English CHANTELLE CAMERON wins by Majority Decision. Verdict announcing the rematch. And Dublin claims it, it wants the ransom for the great Boxing that in recent years had been – (rightly) – taken away from Dublin.

Thus the judges’ cards for the winner THOMAS ESSEOMBA 116-112, 117-111, 116-112. The fastest Englishman from Cameroon, very prepared and opened up challenging the Italian right away, ESSEOMBA pressed him as ALESSIO surely didn’t expect. Despite both being southpaw. LORUSSO didn’t have those quick reflexes which are the basic rule in bantamweight. And so the EBU Bantamweight Belt flew to the UK! Starting over to regain…

Las Vegas. The American competition judges, (all three) have not yet learned Fair Play. Give Caesar what is Caesar’s. Point.!

I don’t agree with the judges’ scorecards, it seems that I and other analysts and certainly the public have seen another fight. In my opinion, the Ukrainian VSYL LOMACHENKO won crystal clear by Unanimous Decision. HANEY’s face says it all.

And there’s more, I never heard before, but this morning, the “King of the Promoters” BOB ARUM hot with the microphone told both LOMACHENKO and his Father, that he had won and easy!

Now there must be a rematch! And with three judges from three different continents. Maybe one European and one Asian, or is the world confined to the USA?
