CIAO GEORGE “big” FOREMAN tra i Grandi di Tutti i Tempi

Ciao GEORGE FOREMAN questo tuo viaggio non l’avevo pensato così presto. Sono triste. Mi hai spiazzata. Apparivi così in forma nei tuoi 76 anni.

Ci siamo visti più volte e mi apparivi non solo “grosso”, era il tuo soprannome oggettivo per la tua mole possente, ma soprattutto qualcuno a cui ispirarsi, tu che eri caduto, crollato a KO, sotto la pressione psicologica di Muhammad Ali in quel match nello Zaire, dove avevi contro non solo un avversario di grande valore atletico, ma un popolo, capace di izzarsi contro te.

Quel “Ali bo ma ye” (Ali uccidilo) è stata la colonna sonora di quel epico match a Kinshasa nello Zaire. L’anno scorso c’è stato l’anniversario dei 50 anni.

Diventi Medaglia d’Oro alle Olimpiadi di Città del Messico del 1968 e ti proietti nella conquista del sogno più grande i Professionisti. Vinci, cadi, ti isoli per almeno un decennio, ti rialzi, torni a combattere e spiazzi il mondo intero.

Mi dispiace caro GEORGE, di non aver tenuto fede alla promessa di invitarti  alla  mia “premiere cinematografica”. Mi dispiace vedere andar via le mie “star”  di caratura sportiva eccezionale, protagonisti e testimoni della Storia. Continuerò a combattere. Tu proteggimi da lassù.

sono incimapata nell’impreciso TG della La 7 delle 20:00 che citava George Foreman, morto ieri. Il “narratore”  che nessuno sa chi sia e mai si è visto nel mondo della boxe-  citando HBO…da dove ha copiato le immagini tagliandone il logo, infatti sono (c)copyright, ne so qualcosa..- ha detto che Muhammad Ali fu arrestato. Sicuramente non solo ha tagliato male, ma capito peggio. Non avendo argomenti, sulla morte di Foreman con quella mancanza di tatto propria degli ignoranti, ha esaltato l’autoproclamatosi “Il più grande” Muhammad Ali. Invece che rendere omaggio al grande rivale che ieri è deceduto.  Copiare ed incollare e non avvalersi di competenza, in mancanza di testimoni non solo non è professionale, distorce la storia è fazioso.   

Muhammad Ali non è mai stato arrestato, per il suo rifiuto ad andare in guerra in Vietnam, giustificando motivi religiosi a difesa dei Fratelli dell’Islam di cui era diventato parte, cambiando il suo nome da Cassius Clay a Muhammad Ali. Ali è stato disertore. Infatti nel 1967 fu sì condannato a 5 anni di prigione, ma non ha mai fatto un giorno di carcere, la pena gli fu tramutata in una penale di circa $10.000,00 e gli è stata sospesa la licenza di combattere sul ring  Poi riabiltitata nel 1971…

FAREWELL GEORGE “big” FOREMAN among the Greats of All Time

Farewell GEORGE FOREMAN, I hadn’t thought you would leave so soon. I’m sad. You surprised me. You looked so fit at 76 years old.

We saw each other several times and you appeared to me not only “big”, that was your objective nickname for your body size, but above all someone to look up to, you who had fallen, collapsed in a KO, under the psychological pressure of Muhammad Ali in that fight in Zaire, where you had against you not only an opponent of great athletic value but a people, capable of turning against you.

That “Ali bo ma ye” (Ali kill him) was the soundtrack of that epic fight in Kinshasa, Zaire. Last year was the 50th anniversary.

You become a Gold Medalist at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics and you project yourself into the conquest of the greatest dream, the Professionals. You win, you fall, you isolate yourself for at least a decade, you get up, you fight again and you shock the whole world.

I’m sorry dear GEORGE, for not having kept my promise to invite you to my “film premiere”. I’m sorry to see my “stars” of exceptional sporting caliber, protagonists and witnesses of History, pass away. I will continue to fight. You protect me from up there.

I stumbled upon the imprecise news of Italian TV La 7 at 8:00 PM that quoted George Foreman, who died yesterday. The “narrator” that no one knows who he is and has never been seen in the world of boxing – quoting HBO… from where he copied the images by cutting the logo they are (c)copyright, I know something about it.. – said that Muhammad Ali was arrested. Surely not only did he cut badly, but he understood worse. Having no arguments, on the death of Foreman with that lack of tact typical of the ignorant, he exalted the self-proclaimed “The Greatest” Muhammad Ali. So, instead of paying homage to the great rival Geroge Foreman who died yesterday. Copying and pasting and not making use of expertise, in the absence of witnesses,  is not only unprofessional, but it distorts history and is biased.

…Muhammad Ali was never arrested for his refusal to go to war in Vietnam, justifying himself with religious reasons in defense of The Brothers of Islam of which he had become a part, changing his name from Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali. Ali was a draft dodger. In 1967 he was sentenced to 5 years in prison, but he never spent a day in prison, the sentence was commuted to a fine of about $10,000.00, and his license to fight in the ring was suspended. Then rehabilitated in 1971…
