a RIAD SARÁ LA NOTTE DI ZHILEI ZHANG
Questa sera sul Ring di Riad due match interessanti.
ZHILEI “big bang” ZHANG vs JOE PARKER è il l’evento principale
ANTHONY JOSHUA vs FRANCIS NGANNOU
Il primo è il “match” il secondo è un’idea brillante, ma non egualmente competitiva come il primo.
Mi spiego meglio:
JOSHUA dopo aver conquistato la Medaglia d’Oro a Londra 2012 Dilettanti, passa subito Pro e nel 2017 davanti ad un pubblico di 90.000 persone a Wimbledon a Londra, ha chiuso la carriera dell’immenso WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO, anche lui Medaglia d’oro alle Olimpiadi di Atlanta nel 1996. WLAD dominatore per 11 anni del regno dei Pesi Massimi Pro, quella notte lascia definitivamnete il ring, i suoi anni migliori erano ormai alle spalle.
Infatti questo è stato l’ultimo match del grande ucraino. Di quella notte rimangono impressi, spettacolari 5° e 6° round. WLADIMIR fisico statuario, impensabile per un 41enne di quella mole, che per la prima volta in 11 anni di Regno assoluto della categoria dei Pesi Massimi, viene colpito in Knock Down, si rialza e quel round è suo. WLADIMIR incredibilmente è sceso dal ring intatto. WLAD nei suoi anni migliori avebbe spazzato JOSHUA e WILDER. E poi, non ultimo WLAD KLITSCHKO che gentleman dentro e fuori dal ring!
Tornando a questa sera JOSHUA, ha un avversario al suo 2° match Pro, certo il camerunense FRANCIS NGANNOU se lo è meritato questo match, perchè ha perso per un soffio vs il “Re degli Zingari” TYSON FURY, lo scorso ottobre proprio in una notte di parata di stelle della Grande Boxe nella stessa Riad.
Per quanto io sia meritocratica, e dunque NGANNOU ha tutta la mia simpatia, non credo in nessun modo possa prendere alla sprovvista ANTHONY JOSHUA, perché se lo scorso ottobre, TYSON “The Gypsy King” FURY aveva preso alla leggera quel match, e dunque non si era preparato sottovalutando l’imponente camerunense, JOSHUA la cui boxe non mi ha mai fatto impazzire e ancor meno il suo quoziente mentale atletico, ma adesso all’angolo ha un eccelso allenatore BEN DAVISON, che ha risollevato il destino di quel cavallo pazzo di TYSON FURY…e dunque JOSHUA 34 anni, con un istruttore così e nel pieno dei suoi anni migliori anni non può perdere.
Ma il match clou, di questa notte a RIAD non c’è dubbio è tra il grande cinese ZHILEI ZHANG vs JOE PARKER, neozelandese.
Non c’è ombra di dubbio che ZHILEI ZHANG ci ha messo almeno un decennio per entrare atleticamente e mentalmente nella Grande Boxe, come ho già scritto la boxe, non è tradizione cinese. Ma ZHILEI l’ha amata subito e ci ha lavorato duramente e ha decisamente conquistato l’America e soprattutto abbassato la spocchia degli inglesi e stanotte lo farà con i neozelandesi…
Da quella Medaglia d’Argento alle Olimpiadi di Pechino 2008, oggi ZHILEI ZHANG è tra i protagonisti dei Pesi Massimi Pro ovviamente, mentre i nostri Dilettanti medagliati italiani d’oro e d’argento, sono rimasti mezzi poliziotti e mezzi pugili dilettanti, come nei regimi comunisti. Con infelici escursioni al mediocre Grande Fratello…Una tristezza infinita come negli anni vi ho più volte qui nel mio Blog riportato.
E dunque il grande cinese, “big-bang ZHANG” stanotte a RIAD abbasserà l’impeto del neozelandese JOE PARKER 32 anni, che lo scorso dicembre ha sconfitto l’americano DEONTAY “the Bronze Bomber” WILDER, 38 anni anche lui nello stesso 2008 Medaglia di Bronzo alle Olimpiadi di Pechino, che con quel suo micidiale destro, per un lustro 2015-2020, lo ha visto, protagonista e unico detentore della Cintura WBC dei Pesi Massimi.
Lo scorso 23 dicembre nella stessa Riad di questa notte, PARKER ha zittito l’unica ma micidiale arma di WILDER. Chiudendone a mio avviso la carriera.
Il grande cinese ZHILEI ZHANG, ha un potente destro, grande fiducia nelle sue capacità fisiche e mentali. Non potrei che puntare su di lui.
Se vince questa notte e così nella rivincita vs PARKER, già perchè nel contratto comunque vada ai due questa notte, c’è la clausola di rivincita.
Dicevo se vince ZHILEI ZHANG si assicura un incontro in casa CINA, sarà un evento più che sensazionale e per la storia della Boxe e per l’attenzione mediatica con centinaia di milioni di spettatori, mai prima di oggi accaduta su un Ring in Cina.

Ha tempismo e un potente, straordinario destro ZHILEI “the Big Bang” ZHANG e fermerà il neozelandese JOSEPH PARKER.

E nulla…ho cannato il risultato…Verdetto tirato per i capelli. Il gigante cinese, lento, troppo lento ma quando colpisce è incisivo. Poca pressione di PARKER. ZHILEI ha avuto poche reazioni davvero efficaci. Non che PARKER sia stato meglio. PARKER andato in Knock Down al 3° round con un potente diritto sinistro e al 8° round con un bel colpo piovuto dal nulla! PARKER non è stato superiore, ha solo mimato meglio l’azione. Comunque ho visto un match al rallentatore.
JOE PARKER, neozelandese con Decisone di Maggioranza vince ai punti ZHILEI ZHANG (113-113, 114-112, 115-111).
Mi piaceva molto la favola di ZHILEI ZHANG comunque complimenti per essere arrivato sin qui a 40 anni vs PARKER 32 anni che dovrà impegnarsi molto per migliorarsi. A ZHANG servivano almeno 2 anni di meno… Il 40esimo compleanno è il capolinea anche per un Peso Massimo.
Nel contratto c’è la clausola di rivincita. ZHILEI deve lavorare sulla resistenza. Questo è il mio suggerimento. La potenza è intatta. Puoi farcela!

IN RIYAD IT WILL BE ZHILEI ZHANG’S NIGHT
Two interesting fights, tonight on the Ring in Riyadh.
ZHILEI “big bang” ZHANG vs JOE PARKER is the main event
ANTHONY JOSHUA vs FRANCIS NGANNOU
The first is the “fight” the second is a brilliant idea, but not as competitive as the first.
I’ll explain:
JOSHUA after winning the Gold Medal at London 2012 Amateurs, immediately went Pro and in 2017 in front of an audience of 90,000 people at Wimbledon in London, he ended the career of the immense WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO, also a Gold Medalist at the Olympics of Atlanta in 1996. WLAD, dominator of the Pro Heavyweight reign for 11 years, left the ring definitively that night, his best years were now behind him.
This was the last fight of the great Ukrainian. The spectacular 5th and 6th rounds remain imprinted on that night. WLADIMIR’s statuesque physique, unthinkable for a 41-year-old of that size, who for the first time in 11 years of absolute reign of the Heavyweight division, is hit in Knock Down, gets up and that round belongs to him. WLADIMIR incredibly got out of the ring intact. WLAD in his best years would have swept JOSHUA and WILDER. And then, last but not least, WLAD KLITSCHKO, what a gentleman inside and outside the ring!
Returning to this evening JOSHUA, has an opponent in his 2nd Pro fight, of course, the Cameroonian FRANCIS NGANNOU deserved this match, because he lost by a narrow margin against the “Gypsy King” TYSON FURY, last October in a night of parade of stars of the Great Boxing in the same Riad.
As much as I am a meritocrat, and therefore NGANNOU has all my sympathy, I don’t think in any way he can take ANTHONY JOSHUA off guard because if last October, TYSON “The Gypsy King” FURY, had taken that fight lightly, and therefore he had prepared by underestimating the imposing Cameroonian, JOSHUA, whose boxing has never made me crazy and even less his much less his athletic mental quotient, but now in his corner, he has an excellent trainer BEN DAVISON, who has revived the destiny of that crazy horse TYSON FURY …and therefore JOSHUA 34 years old, with an instructor like this and amid his best years he cannot lose.
But there is no doubt that the key fight tonight in RIYADH is between the great Chinese ZHILEI ZHANG vs JOE PARKER, New Zealander.
There is no shadow of a doubt that it took ZHILEI ZHANG at least a decade to enter athletically and mentally into Great Boxing, as I have already written, boxing is not a Chinese tradition. But ZHILEI loved it immediately and worked hard on it and has conquered America and above all lowered the arrogance of the English and tonight he will do it with the New Zealanders…
Since that Silver Medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, today ZHILEI ZHANG is among the protagonists of the Pro Heavyweights obviously, while our Amateurs, Italian gold and silver medallists, have remained half policemen and half amateur boxers, as in communist regimes. With unhappy excursions to the mediocre Big Brother…An infinite sadness as I have reported to you several times here in my blog over the years.
And therefore the great Chinese, “big-bang ZHANG” tonight in RIYADH will lower the impetus of the New Zealander JOE PARKER 32 years old, who last December defeated the American DEONTAY “the Bronze Bomber” WILDER, also 38 years old in the same 2008 Bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics, which with his deadly right hand, for five years from 2015 to 2020, saw him as the protagonist and sole holder of the WBC Heavyweight Belt.
Last December 23rd in the same Riad as tonight PARKER silenced WILDER’s unique but deadly weapon. Closing his career in my opinion.
The great Chinese ZHILEI ZHANG has a powerful right hand and great confidence in his physical and mental abilities. I couldn’t help but focus on him.
If he wins tonight and so in the rematch against PARKER, already because in the contract it goes to the two tonight anyway, there is a rematch clause.
I was saying that if ZHILEI ZHANG wins, he will secure a fight in CHINA, it will be a more than sensational event both for the history of Boxing and for the media attention with hundreds of millions of spectators, which has never happened before today in a Ring in China.

And nothing… I screwed up the result…
The verdict was a close call. The Chinese giant, is slow, too slow but when he hits he is incisive. Little pressure from PARKER. ZHILEI had few truly effective reactions. Not that PARKER was any better. PARKER went Knock Down in the 3rd round with a powerful left right and in the 8th round with a nice shot from nowhere! PARKER wasn’t superior, he just mimicked the action better. However, I saw a match in slow motion.
JOE PARKER, New Zealander with Majority Decision wins on points ZHILEI ZHANG (113-113, 114-112, 115-111). I liked the story of ZHILEI ZHANG, however congratulations for having made it this far at 40 years old vs PARKER 32 years old who will have to work hard to improve. ZHANG needed at least 2 years less… The 40th birthday is the end of the line even for a Heavyweight.
In the contract, there is a rematch. ZHILEI must work on stamina, that’s my suggestion. Your power is still there. You can do it!
