Si tratta di onore, orgoglio e il pensiero va all’intensa preparazione, dove le incertezze saranno sormontate tra questi due leoni nel pieno della loro massima espressione, all’apice dei loro anni migliori. Ancora un paio d’anni e poi è finita. Di solito.
Parlo di sentimenti mentali, sono in palio amore, passione.
“Vinci quando domini.” Mi avrebbe suggerito il mio grande vecchio. “Se quello ti domina, era il migliore, non importa quanto tu fossi il più grande atleta del mondo…Questo è il Pugilato.”

CRAWFORD, del Nebraska ha dominato il texano SPENCE jr., lo ha steso in Knock Down per tre volte e fermato definitivamente via KO al 9°round. Entrambi mancini, CRAWFORD ha surclassato SPENCE jr., diventando il primo campione indiscusso di boxe dell’era delle quattro cinture, iniziata nel 1988. Ora il malloppo è tutto suo, WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF. E certo The Ring Magazine.
Mi dispiace non confermarvi la mia previsione, non perché CRAWFORD è stato nettamente l’uomo migliore, ha vinto facile direi..ma perché se non sono a bordo ring, e non respiro l’aria del match, parlo o e vedo i pugili da vicino, almeno una settimana prima è arduo azzeccare il pronostico. Anche se spesso mi succede.
SPENCE ha chiesto il rematch previsto dal contratto. Non mi sembra possa a servire se non a confermare la netta superiorità di TERENCE CRAWFORD. BRAVO! Sulla scena mondiale oggi il miglior Peso Welter! E quanto prestigio per questa categoria così ricca di leggende!
