Ho appena chiuso una bella telefonata con Dominique Nato, da quattro mesi Presidente della Federazione Francese di Pugilato. Ho chiarito subito: “Ci sarà la possibilità di incontri tra la nazionale francese contro la nazionale italiana sia maschi che femmine?”
“No” l’unica donna per la Francia è nei 60 Kg, categoria a cui non partecipa con le sue atlete l’Italia.
Dominique Nato, da ben, ben sei Olimpiadi, dal 1992 è responsabile per il pugilato francese, dalle Olimpiadi di Atlanta 1996, poi Sydney 2000, Atene 2004, Pechino 2008, Londra 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016, oggi in veste di Presidente della Federazione Pugilistica francese per Tokyo 2020…
Dominique Nato ha praticamente formato tutto il pugilato in Francia, scalando tutti i gradini della dirigenza delle Federazione. Prima del 1992 era normale che la Francia non portasse a casa medaglie olimpiche; è arrivato lui e si è imposto con la sua esperienza, il suo passato di pugile dilettante, poi professionista sino a diventare Campione di Francia nei Pesi Massimi, lascia presto con soli 14 match. Non è il suo futuro.
Ma ha già tutto il bagaglio culturale che serve per tramandare ai nuovi affamati con ambizione e sogni di gloria. E la sua passione è granitica.
Io l’ho verificata di persona, la prima volta alle Olimpiadi di Pechino nel 2008.
Infatti la sua missione è un’altra. Entra in federazione e con un lavoro dal basso ha dato un sogno che si è concretizzato, in ogni Olimpiade dal 1996 la Francia ha recuperato terreno, ed ha sempre giovani pugili che conquistano medaglie; lui sempre con ruoli di responsabilità, di allenatore, di commissario tecnico, vice di uno e dell’altro…

Oggi la Francia si è abituata bene, Dominique Nato è una certezza per il medagliere francese. E ora che è Presidente con un suffragio quasi universale, lo scorso marzo ha vinto con il 96% dei voti, la Francia lo aspetta al varco…non può deludere.
Dominique si apre subito: “In ogni tappa si deve imparare ad ottimizzare, ho fatto il mio ruolo in ogni settore, so bene il mio lavoro, mi conoscono da 30 anni, ma devo affermarmi come Presidente.
In questa Olimpiade Tokyo 2020, mutilata dal pubblico, Dominique Nato, non vede l’ora di raggiungere i suoi ragazzi, loro sono già a Tokyo. Partiti con la speranza di tornare a casa con risultati vincenti, ha infuso in loro il credo, la determinazione e la consapevolezza che ogni combattimento è una finale…
Meno male che l’Olimpiade più difficile, più controversa, più dibattuta che ha messo in grandissime difficoltà una nazione quale il Giappone, divenuto ostile ai Giochi per via della pandemia, che non si meritava certo di soffrire così tanto, è partita ieri 23 luglio. Sino all’ultimo in seria probabilità di essere annullata.

Ma vediamo il bicchiere mezzo pieno, fa bene ai giapponesi essere il centro del mondo, anche solo per tutte le TV, i media di ogni parte della terra, che per 17 giorni avrà occhi solo per loro, sprizzerà di entusiasmo per tutti i giovani rappresentanti di ogni nazione, una festa per gli atleti che tanto duramente si sono preparati per confrontarsi in ogni disciplina.
L’Italia del Pugilato Uomini non ci sarà. Prevedibile con una Federazione statalista che non ha idea di cosa sia un traguardo sportivo. Apparato ammalato, deformato come ho ripetuto dal 2008, su ogni mio scritto dove tiro in ballo la Federazione Pugilistica Italiana.
Gerarchia statale abituata a prendere lo stipendio, piove o tira vento…accontentarsi di una Medaglia d’Oro e usarla per esibizioni, o d’Argento per grattarsi le palle e menare schiaffi…o di Bronzo, con anche la faccia diventata di quel colore e così far finta di passare al professionismo. Una vergogna. Un dilettantismo che ha voluto in ogni modo soffocare, non riuscendoci ovviamente, un passato glorioso della Grande Boxe italiana professionisti con eco in tutto il mondo!
E allora eccomi qui a scrivervi di un grande italiano, senza piagnistei e con una volontà d’acciaio, ovviamente a tutti gli effetti francese, cresciuto con la sua famiglia emigrata con lui bambino, presto dalla Calabria e formatosi sportivamente in Francia.
A Dominique Nato piacciono le responsabilità: “Mi piace essere un capobranco. Un leader. Voglio rammaricarmi di aver sbagliato perché l’ho fatto io, non perché me lo hanno imposto gli altri. Devono solo lasciarmi lavorare come voglio io. A Tokyo non ci sono i miei uomini e donne, ma è il proseguo della presidenza precedente che finisce appunto con questa Olimpiade. Ma certo mi assumo la responsabilità di questo progetto anche se non mio, condividendo nella buona e nella cattiva sorte con tutti gli atleti pugili che si confronteranno nel ring di questa Olimpiade di Tokyo 2020. Sarò in tribuna presidenziale non mi potrò muovere, per via della pandemia, sarò solo spettatore, del resto non posso fermare nulla, non posso cambiare nulla.
E non voglio turbare quello che è già stato fatto prima di me, è tardi per cambiare i vagoni del treno in corsa.
Le Olimpiadi di Parigi 2024 mi aspettano! E questo il mio grande prossimo traguardo.
E Parigi 2024 saranno al 100% le Olimpiadi del Pugilato che avranno la mia firma autografa.
Io: “Pensi che i tuoi ragazzi conquisteranno medaglie sul ring di Tokyo?”
É positivo Dominique:“Mi aspetto almeno due medaglie, una da Sofiane Oumiha Peso Leggero già Argento a Rio de Janeiro 2016, di origine magrebina, e l’altra potrebbe essere una sorpresa dal Peso Super Massimo di origine russa Mourad Aliev, cresciuto in Francia. Forse anche da una donna, Maïva Hamadouche, Pesi Leggeri, già professionista titolo IBF nei Pesi Leggeri.”
Commento: “I professionisti che vanno alle Olimpiadi di solito sono scarsi. Se diventi professionista nella Grande Boxe, non torni indietro al dilettantismo…chi lo ha fatto era scarso, scarsissimo in ogni caso!”
Gli ricordo che nell’Olimpiade del 1964 si è rivelato un grandissimo atleta, un sensazionale pugile che ha scritto la storia della Grande Boxe, e la Grande Boxe è solo professionisti…non ha dubbi Dominique Nato che sto parlando di un fuoriclasse, della leggenda, JOE “smokin” FRAZIER…
Definisce Dominique: ” Frazier, un carro armato, non lasciava respirare”.
Incalzo: “in finale con quello che poi sarebbe stato il suo autografo, il suo potente sinistro mise a KO il suo avversario russo…!”
Lui mi fa eco: “E divenne Campione Medaglia d’Oro per gli USA a Tokyo 1964! Che annate, dove ieri come oggi le Olimpiadi furono il trampolino di lancio vedi Cassius Clay alias Muhammad Ali a l’Olimpiade di Roma 1960, appunto Joe “smokin” Frazier a Tokyo 1964, e a Città del Messico nel 1968, altro grandissimo George “big” Foreman…”
Continuo: “Lancio delle Olimpiadi che ha proiettato tutti e tre nella Grande Boxe che ha scolpito la Storia.”
Mi conferma: “Eh sì! Una gran carriera che ogni vero grande dilettante sogna di proseguire nei professionisti!”
Proseguo da sola: “E non di arrivo, come è successo con i nostri pavidi e anche oso scrivere, codardi, olimpionici dilettanti. Se il tuo traguardo sono le Olimpiadi e non sai pensare in grande, al vero grande futuro che ti aspetta nei professionisti, lasci dietro di te un vuoto incolmabile e distruggi un sogno, come è successo appunto da noi in Italia. È anni che lo ripeto. Ecco il perché, l’Italia dei poliziotti-finti-pugili-poliziotti che si è creduta furba ad imbrogliare, facendo credere che il campione Olimpionico fosse il traguardo finale, invece ovviamente nella boxe non lo è mai stato. Oggi siamo senza nuove leve, nemmeno in grado di confrontarsi alle Olimpiadi!”
Dominique mi interrompe: “certo ci vogliono allenatori che stimolano che sanno comunicare la passione, che sanno far crescere, che si fondono con il loro ragazzo/a che forgiano il carattere e il fisico per essere davvero competitivo.”
Non sto malignando ovviamente, non è mai stato nelle mie intenzioni, ma essere franca è una mia prerogativa: e nell’augurare il miglior traguardo alle nostre quattro giovani ragazze italiane della Polizia che ci provano, in questa Olimpiade di Tokyo 2020, Angela Carini, Rebecca Nicoli, Giordana Sorrentino e Irma Testa e mettendole in guardia che se non attraversano le corde del professionismo, intanto che sono negli anni migliori, non interesseranno. E non ci saranno scuse che tengono…E chi si accontenta non gode. Lascia dietro di sè il nulla.

Continuo:“Hanno davvero “fame”, quell’ambizione di diventare grandi campioni di boxe, intendo professionisti?” Immediato Dominique: “Eh certo!”
Cosa vuoi dire al Pugilato Italiano dei dilettanti maschi che non si è qualificato in questa Olimpiade di Tokyo 2020?
Immediato: “Nulla, io non ho nulla da dire”.
Questa sera ci sarà una piccola riunione a Piove di Sacco nel padovano, il veterano Maestro Benemerito Gino Freo, farà debuttare un giovane Peso Massimo nei professionisti Sergio Sinigur vs il russo Ivan Bria; ci saranno i campioni oggi maestri, Francesco Damiani e Maurizio Stecca a dare lustro alla serata. Vuoi dire qualcosa a Francesco Damiani con cui da giovane dilettante hai condiviso il ring?
“Un abbraccio a Francesco è un amico, il mio più buon amico e il più bell’avversario, grande pugile all’altezza del grande uomo che è. Non è un mangia-merda”.
E Dominique con questa battuta finale è decisamente francese…
E io in questa Olimpiade di Tokyo 2020, tifo per un grande successo per la Nazionale Francese accompagnata da un Presidente faro indiscutibile, un Gran Signore, per tutta la Boxe di Francia! Un Italiano che ce l’ha fatta!
