ACCETTA LE SFIDE…O SEI UNA SEGA! WRIGHT vs GARBELLI 1° match

Caro Papà, un patrimonio culturale pugilistico così immenso…tutto il mio grande lavoro in ostaggio dell’ignoranza, della meschinità, dell’arroganza bestiale di una sinistra tanto mediocre quanto cattiva e corrotta. Ma come quelle merde hanno potuto rigettare i mei sei docufilm – privandomi di finanziamento – con i più grandi protagonisti della storia mondiale della Grande Boxe, un impresa titanica tutta in prima persona di oltre 20 anni…!!! Che cialtroni!

Gli anni del ex ministro Franceschini alla Cultura sono stati i più corrotti della storia della Repubblica Italiana. Chissà perchè i MEDIA non ne parlano o solo qualche volta ne sussuranno…Chissà se il nuovo Ministro Alessandro Giuli riesce a voltare davvero pagina a questo andazzo così rovinoso! Mah! Troppi anni. La corruzione è diventata una normalità. Per chi si arrende. Nella vita quale autrice/produttrice intendevo e intendo dare un contributo culturale pugilistico inedito. Invece mi ritrovo da 8 anni in guerra giudiziaria, senza ancora un quattrino incassato dovutomi. Il giochetto del rigetto da parte del sistema marcio è disgustoso. Che squallore. Eppure tutti a sbirciare il mio BLOG!!!! Proprio TUTTI.

Eh no, Papà non mi sono dimenticata del tuo 93° compleanno scorso 4 ottobre, solo mi piaceva ricordare questo epico match che succedeva un giorno come oggi il 18 ottobre del 1958. TED “Farmer” WRIGHT vs GIANCARLO “Il Fighter d’Italia” GARBELLI al Palazzo dello Sport di Milano. Era il nono dei dieci match che disputasti quell’anno…

Un tempo, i Campioni, praticamente combattevano in media ogni mese/mese e mezzo/due mesi. Si comprendono così i grandi numeri di match disputati. Un tour de force oggi impensabile, dove al massimo “le star del ring” combattono due volte all’anno. Da qui nel record dei Campioni di oggi il numero di match dimezzato, ma anche meno, e il protrarsi degli anni in attività.

Quell’autunno del 1958 un giovane, valente imbattuto TED WRIGHT veniva da Detroit quale promessa di essere il “nuovo Sugar Ray Robinson“,  con l’ambizione tesa al titolo mondiale. Non una ma due volte GARBELLI gli ha infranto il sogno. Entrambi si sono incontrati nei loro anni migliori, WRIGHT 22 anni, GARBELLI 27 anni.

WRIGHT ha amato l’Italia e ci ha vissuto, intanto che continuava il suo viaggio negli altri Ring d’Europa, lasciando tracce che gli storici della boxe amano risaltare, Vienna per esempio.

Mi piace ricordare che WRIGHT prima di venire in Europa, divideva gli allenamenti di una palestra di Detroit, la Brewster Oldtimer Ring 32 con il suo amico, poi diventato grande Maestro di Boxe, EMANUEL STEWARD che ha forgiato le qualità di eccezionali campioni, ultimo in ordine cronologico, WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO.

Il più grande Campione Italiano di sempre, tra i grandissimi nel mondo oggi avrebbe in vita tutte le Cinture e dei Pesi Welter, Super Welter e dei Pesi Medi.  Nei suoi anni da Pro 1952-1963 non c’erano tutti quei trofei di oggi. E chi riusciva a conquistare un titolo, se lo teneva ben stretto e non lo metteva in palio. Le trame erano assurde per non rischiare. Ma la borsa eh sì quella c’era! E tanto di più qualità l’avversario tanto più ricca la borsa…questo vale anche oggi!

ACCEPT THE CHALLENGES…OR YOU’RE A WICK! WRIGHT vs GARBELLI 1st fight

Dear Dad, such an immense boxing cultural heritage… all my great work held hostage by the ignorance, pettiness, and bestial arrogance of a left party that is as mediocre as it is evil and corrupt. But how could those shits reject my six docufilms – depriving me of funding – with the greatest protagonists in the world history of Great Boxing, a titanic undertaking all in first person for over 20 years…!!! What charlatans!

The years of the former Minister Franceschini of Culture were the most corrupt in the history of the Italian Republic. Who knows why the MEDIA don’t talk about it or only sometimes whisper about it… Who knows if the new Minister Alessandro Giuli can turn the page on this ruinous trend! Meh! Too many years. Corruption has become normal. For those who give up. In life as an author/producer, I intended and still intend to give an unprecedented boxing cultural contribution. Instead, I find myself in a legal war for 8 years, without a single penny collected that is due. The game of rejection by the rotten system is disgusting. How miserable. A world that knows no values. And yet everyone is peeking at my BLOG!!!! Absolutely EVERYONE.

Oh no, Dad, I haven’t forgotten your 93rd birthday on October 4th. I just wanted to remember this epic fight that happened on a day like today, October 18th, 1958. TED “Farmer” WRIGHT vs GIANCARLO “Il Fighter d’Italia” GARBELLI at the Palazzo dello Sport in Milano. It was the ninth of ten fights you fought that year.

Once upon a time, Champions fought on average every month/month and a half/two months, which explains the large number of disputed fights. This tour de force is unthinkable today, where at most “the stars of the ring” fight twice a year. Hence, in the record of today’s Champions, the number of fights has halved, or even less, and the years of activity have prolonged.

That fall of 1958 a young, brave undefeated TED WRIGHT came from Detroit with a promise to be the “new Sugar Ray Robinson”, with the ambition aimed at the world title. Not once but twice GARBELLI shattered his dream. Both met in their best years, WRIGHT 22 years old, GARBELLI 27 years old.

WRIGHT loved Italy and lived here for a time, while he continued his journey in the other Rings of Europe, leaving traces that boxing historians love to highlight, as WRIGHT fought also in Vienna for example.

I like to remember that WRIGHT before coming to Europe, shared training in Detroit, at the Brewster Oldtimer Ring 32 gym, with his pal, the later great Boxing Trainer, EMANUEL STEWARD who forged the qualities of exceptional champions, last in chronological order, WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO.

Here in the 39th chapter of the Audio Book, the first fight is WRIGHT vs. GARBELLI (sorry if you don’t know Italian; someday, I’ll register in English, too).

The greatest Italian Champion of all time, among the greatest in the world today would hold all the Belts of the Welterweights, Superwelterweights, and Middleweights! In his years as a Pro 1952-1963, there were not all those trophies of today. And whoever managed to conquer a title, held on tight, and didn’t put it up for grabs. The plots were absurd to avoid risks… But the purse, yes, that was there! And the more quality the opponent, the richer the purse… this is still true today!
