A Riyadh vince BETERBIEV vs BIVOL. Il pareggio sarebbe stato giusto verdetto.

Giornate lunghe e intense non mi hanno permesso il mio racconto prima del match. Ho visto l’incontro, un bel match non un incredibile match, la tattica ha dominato, è stata la tecnica, la classe di entrambi, l’abilità, il coraggio dei due protagonisti ARTUR BETERBIEV 39 anni, originario della Cecenia, nazionalità Canada, record ad oggi: 21 match, vinti 20 via KO  vs DMITRY BIVOL 33 anni, nazionalità Russia, del Kyrgyzstan, residente in California. Record aggiornato ad oggi 23 match 22 vinti, 12 via KO, perso 1.

Entrambi imbattuti prima del match di ieri sera alla Kingdom Arena di Riyadh.TURKI ALALSHIHK ha fatto un investimento incredibile nella boxe e l’eco lo sta ripagando. Sul ring combattono i campioni che il pubblico vuol vedere. Un investimento che ad oggi, solo gli USA e UK poteva sostenere, in ogni caso, molto di rado. Il Pugilato oltre all’abilità e credibilità dell’organizzatore e la materia prima, servono molti soldoni. La GERMANIA ha avuto annate fantastiche. IL GIAPPONE ha la materia prima: i Combattenti che permettono notti intense e remunerative e il suo pubblico è estasiato.

Da qui la fiducia del saudita ai due promoter il leggendario  americano BOB ARUM, insieme all’inglese di lungo corso FRANK WARREN sono alle spalle  ARTUR BETERBIEV e EDDIE HEARN anche britannico, meno esperienza, ma tanta tradizione alle spalle, ha in contratto DMITRY BIVOL Dunque chapeau nel aver mantenuto la boxe a livelli di alta qualità.

Dicevo non c’è stato un incendio, ma una performance di alto livello, non c’è stato il KO dello “stalker” BETERBIEV dal pugno più potente, è stato sicuramente l’aggressore, ha dettato il ritmo, un combattimento molto serrato.

BIVOL lo ha controllato molto bene e si è trasformato in un bersaglio mobile in un combattimento intenso, DMITRY è stato un rivale più fluido ed ha piazzato colpi accattivanti e concreti all’inizio e ha avuto la meglio nei primi round.

A metà match c’era poca differenza tra i due con BETERBIEV forse indietro ma ogni round è stato un duello serrato in un combattimento senza fuochi d’artificio ma con molto per chi ama vedere “il pugilato allo stato puro”. Gran  lezione di qualità.

BETERBIEV sapeva che doveva chiudere con un colpo demolitore negli ultimi due round e ha aumentato il ritmo, ma BIVOL ha resistito e ha sparato alcune potenti combinazioni.

Un bellissimo incontro, dove BETERVIEV ha ferito l’avversario che mai per un momento ha perso il controllo, ma non è stato il più attivo. Due stili all’opposto, con entrambi una gran classe prima e dopo il match.

Combattenti di alta qualità meritano una rivincita.

Per un giudice 114-114, per gli altri due ,115-113 e116-112 per BETERBIEV.

Il verdetto a favore, in un match così equilibrato, poteva essere sia per l’uno che l’altro Fighter trattandosi di un campionato mondiale tra due combattenti iridati. Il pareggio sarebbe stato il verdetto giusto.

BETERBIEV dopo il match finalmente gli si è sciolta la lingua ha detto: “Non ho fatto bene oggi. Volevo combattere più qualitativamente. Non so perché, ma non mi è piaciuto questo incontro. Ma un giorno sarò migliore.
“Certo, è un incontro duro perché anche DMITRY è un Campione del Mondo. Ha delle ottime abilità, forse migliori delle mie. Ma oggi, Allah ha scelto me.

“Se Sua Eccellenza lo vuole {una rivincita}, allora possiamo farla.”

BIVOL ha detto: “Sono un guerriero. Devo fare tutto alla perfezione. E non ho spiegazioni perché potrebbero sembrare scuse. Mi congratulo solo con ARTUR e il suo team. Se lo merita. Nessun problema.

Ha continuato “Ho solo fatto il mio lavoro. Ho pensato che avrei potuto fare meglio. Potrei sempre essere migliore. È solo l’opinione dei giudici. Congratulazioni, ARTUR. Ha vinto lui. Cosa posso dire?”

Mi piace molto questa risposta di DMITRY BIVOL, anche mio Padre non se la prendeva con i risultati: “il verdetto interessa ai giudici agli arbitri, agli  organizzatori, al pubblico certo. A me interessa solo essere bravo” -Giancarlo Garbelli 

ARTUR BETERBIEV dopo 25 anni, è il primo dominatore INDISCUSSO della categoria dei Pesi Medio-Massimi dell’era moderna delle quattro  Cinture.

E il primo da quando l’americano-russo ROY JONES Jr. ha regnato nei Pesi Medio-Massimi, e sconfisse REGGIE JOHNSON nel 1999  e rimase iridato sino al 2003, sino a quando ANTONIO TARVER, nel 2004, scioccò il mondo con un Knock Out Tecnico strappando a ROY JONES Jr., tutte le cinture sul ring di Las Vegas.

Voglio ricordare che il 1 ottobre del 2018- sei anni fa, ci ha lasciato a solo 54 anni GRACIANO ROCCHIGIANI – amatissimo berlinese, di chiare origini italiane, il cui nome condensa quello di due grandi campioni, americani-italiani, ROCKY GRAZIANO e ROCKY MARCIANO. ROCCHIGIANI ex-iridato, un superbo Super Medio Campione d’Europa e Campione IBF e WBC dei Pesi Medio-Massimi. La sua è stata una carriera tanto sfortunata, quanto accidentata, ma GRACIANO un Campione con il cuore così grande, tra i pugili tedeschi più popolari di sempre è, e rimane indimenticabile. É ancora suo il record nel match vs HENRY MASKE oltre 17 milioni si spettatori.  Questa sera avrebbe davvero avuto molto da dire. Certamente avrebbe riconosciuto, l’alta qualità dei due combattenti, il Fair Play di entrambi. Era così anche il suo atteggiamento naturale.

BETERBIEV wins in Riyadh vs BIVOL. A draw would have been a fair verdict.

Long and intense days didn’t allow me to write before the fight. I saw the match, a good match not an incredible fight, the tactics dominated, it was the technique, the class of both, the ability, and the courage of the two protagonists ARTUR BETERBIEV 39 years old, originally from Chechnya, Canadian nationality, record to date: 21 fights, won 20 via KO vs DMITRY BIVOL 33 years old, Russian nationality, from Kyrgyzstan, resident in California. Both were undefeated before last night’s match at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. TURKI ALALSHIHK has made an incredible investment in Great Boxing and the echo is paying him back. BIVOL controlled him very well and turned into a moving target in an intense fight, DMITRY was a more fluid opponent and landed catchy and solid shots in the beginning and prevailed in the first rounds.

In the middle of the fight, there was little difference between the two with BETERBIEV perhaps behind but each round was a close duel in a fight without fireworks but with a lot for those who like to see “pure boxing”. High quality lesson.

BETERBIEV knew he had to close with a demolishing blow in the last two rounds and increased the pace, but BIVOL resisted and fired some powerful combinations.

A beautiful match, where BETERVIEV hurt the opponent who never for a moment lost control, but was not the most active. Two opposite styles, with both a great class before and after the bout.

High quality fighters deserve a rematch.

For one judge 114-114, for the other two, 115-113, and 116-112 for BETERBIEV.

The verdict in favor, in such a close fight, could have been for either Fighter since it was a world championship between two world champion fighters. The draw would have been the right verdict.

BETERBIEV after the match finally loosened his tongue and said: “I didn’t do well today. I wanted to fight more qualitatively. I don’t know why, but I didn’t like this fight. But one day I will be better.
“Of course, it’s a tough match because DMITRY is also a World Champion. He has great skills, maybe better than mine. But today, Allah has chosen me.

“If His Excellency wants it {a rematch}, then we can do it.”

BIVOL said: “I am a warrior. I have to do everything perfectly. And I have no explanations because they could seem like excuses. I only congratulate ARTUR and his team. He deserves it. No problem.

He continued “I just did my job. I thought I could do better. I could always be better. It’s just the judges’ opinion. Congratulations, ARTUR. He won. What can I say?”

ARTUR BETERBIEV after 25 years, is the first UNDISPUTED ruler of the Middle-Heavyweight division of the modern era of the four Belts.

And the first since the American-Russian ROY JONES Jr. reigned in the Light Heavyweights, and defeated REGGIE JOHNSON in 1999 and remained world champion until 2003, until ANTONIO TARVER, in 2004,  shocked the world with a Technical Knock Out, taking away all the belts in the ring in Las Vegas.

I want to remember that on October 1st, 2018 – six years ago, GRACIANO ROCCHIGIANI left us at only 54 years old – a beloved Berliner, of clear Italian origins, whose name condenses that of two great champions, American-Italians, ROCKY GRAZIANO and ROCKY MARCIANO. ROCCHIGIANI ex-world champion, a superb European Super Middleweight Champion, and IBF and WBC Light Heavyweight Champion. His career was as unfortunate as it was bumpy, but GRACIANO, a Champion with such a big heart, among the most popular German boxers ever is, and remains unforgettable. He still holds the record in the fight vs HENRY MASKE with over 17 million viewers. Last night he really would have had a lot to say. He would certainly have recognized the high quality of the two fighters, the Fair Play of both. It was also his natural attitude.
