É stato sorprendente, tanto più che sottolineavo nel mio articolo che precedeva quel match, quanto la mole di JOSHUA fosse troppo grande e massiccia…per USYK, diventato Peso Massimo dopo una carriera strepitosa da Peso Cruiser. INDISCUSSO Peso Cruiser.
Essere spiazzata a volte è piacevole, quando il talento, l’intelligenza, la determinazione sono così in esaltazione.
Nella rivincita nell’agosto 2022 nel Superdome di Jeddah, la vittoria di USYK ha completamente, letteralmente lasciato in confusione lo stesso avversario, JOSHUA, incapace di esprimere un pensiero compiuto. Accettare la sconfitta nella boxe, vuol dire riconoscere l’Uomo Migliore. JOSHUA non era preparato a questa eventualità…
Nel procedere alla conquista della vetta dei Pesi Massimi “Il Cosacco Ucraino” USYK è inarrestabile, nella bellissima Wroclow in Polonia, umilia deciso DANIEL DUBOIS, altro britannico che non sa accettare la sconfitta, che l’eccezionale atleta ucraino, con motivazione così forte, in quella notte epica dello scorso 25 agosto 2023, con la sua vittoria ha riscaldato l’animo di una nazione, l’Ucraina, aggredita dall’invasione della Russia.
Notte unica, il trionfo di USYK di quella notte, la Boxe, ha creato l’evento per festeggiare una nazione e il suo anniversario d’Indipendenza. K2 Promotion geniale!
Nel frattempo i due contendenti al trono dei Pesi Massimi hanno rimesso insieme i pezzi delle loro sconfitta vs USYK. JOSHUA si è rinfrancato vincendo quattro match con avversari non così di livello, ma certo le vittorie gli han ridato fiducia.
Lo stesso vale per DANIEL DUBOIS, il livello degli avversari che ha ben superato, entrambi alla sua portata.
Sabato 21 settembre ultima notte d’estate, nello stadio di Wembley a Londra, i due britannici ANTHONY JOSHUA 35 anni tra un mese, e DANIEL DUBOIS 27 anni si contenderanno la Cintura IBF, ceduta loro dallo stesso USYK dopo aver conquistato sul ring di Riyadh tutte e quattro le Cinture dei Pesi Massimi, riunificate in una notte stellare diventando così OLEKSANDR “Il Cosacco Ucraino” USYK, anche l’INDISCUSSO Campione dei Pesi Massimi.
Apice eclatante, dove il carattere, la personalità degli Ucraini a non farsi sottomettere a non subire in USYK è così elevato al quadrato. Un risultato cavalcato che viene da lontano: I Fratelli KLITSCHKO docet.
Le notte di domani sera per i due avversari così ben assortiti JOSHUA vs DUBOIS, due britannici di livello inferiore, non ho scritto di basso livello, inferiore rispetto a USYK e anche la loro connazionale TYSON FURY.
“Il Cosacco Ucraino” USYK va detto, ha fatto terra bruciata dei Pesi Massimi britannici che al momento, ma hanno una bella tradizione – uno per tutti – l’immenso LENNOX LEWIS, dicevo la cessione di una delle Cinture conquistate, l’IBF- che lo hanno reso INDISCUSSO Campione dei Pesi Massimi lo scorso Maggio, per il match di domani sera ai suoi precedenti avversari fa questo omaggio;
del resto conoscendo la classe dei grandi Campioni mi appare l’atto di generosità di USYK, quello di chi avendo conquistato tutto, proprio tutto, un atto di fiducia ai due più giovani che si sfideranno sul ring di Wembley, per la gioia delle migliaia di fan inglesi che altrimenti avrebbero dovuto accontentarsi di vedere i due contendersi una Cinturina interim IBF…conquistata da DUBOIS nel match precedente vs il croato FILIP HRGOVIC.
OLEKSANDR “Il Cosacco Ucraino” USYK ci sarà al match. E certo tutto il parterre dei grandi Campioni inglesi. Wembley ha una capacità di 90.000 posti. L’unico match che lo ha riempito, posti esauriti, sino ad oggi, è stato il match di fine carriera di WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO che ha passato la torcia a ANTHONY JOSHUA che JOSHUA non ha saputo trattenere e l’ha conquistata OLEKSANDR “Il Cosacco Ucraino” USYK. Ora in solide mani. Sino al prossimo match a Riyadh alla rivincita in calendario 21 dicembre: USYK vs FURY.
E la mia previsione per domani notte?
DUBOIS ha fuoco interno, ma non è ben guidato, non ha altrettanto angolo di livello. Potrebbe sorprendere, ma… La fragilità emotiva di ANTHONY JOSHUA con all’angolo BEN DAVISON, mi fa credere che le iniezioni di fiducia sono quanto il più esperto dei due ha bisogno.
Domani sera, scommetto il mio calice di vino per ANTHONY JOSHUA via UD. Ma anche via KO. Perché no?

And my prediction for tomorrow night?
DUBOIS has internal fire but is not well guided, and doesn’t have the same level corner. It could surprise, but… The emotional fragility of ANTHONY JOSHUA with BEN DAVISON in the corner, makes me believe that the injections of confidence are what the more experienced of the two needs.
Tomorrow night, I bet my glass of wine for ANTHONY JOSHUA via UD. But also via KO. Why not?
