LA GUERRA DEL SILENZIO una presentazione “esagerata”.

Il libro di Andrea Riccardi, La guerra del silenzio. Pio XII, il nazismo, gli ebrei – una presentazione così “esagerata” nel senso più profondo e intenso, come nella nostra milanesità intendiamo quando cadenziamo a voler intendere con ironia che è troppo.

In questo libro non c’è nulla di ironico è davvero sorprendentemente “esagerato”.

Subito l’intervento sulla comprensione di Monsignor Delpini. Eh già…il nostro Arcivescovo di Milano apre con un tormento non di semplice soluzione.

Ci vuole la comprensione per leggere la Storia. E la Storia non giudica.

Poi il Presidente della Fondazione Corriere della Sera, Ferruccio de Bortoli, già direttore del Corriere della Sera, entra profondo in quell’inquietudine di Papa Pio XII, del suo Papato durante la II Guerra Mondiale.

Con quella rivelazione del bulgaro Metropolita Plovdiv Cirillo che minacciò di stendersi sui binari della stazione per fermare il treno degli ebrei bulgari diretti ad Auschwitz…

Macigni di Storia. E di grandezza.

Inevitabile l’accenno al terribile conflitto nel conflitto armato che assistiamo nella Chiesa Ortodossa Russa, ormai scissa in Chiesa Ortodossa Ucraina.

E poi Il giurista Forti, e lo storico Giovagnoli così infinitamente preparati. Un po’ troppo tecnici nell’esposizione, ma ce l’ho fatta…

Liliana Segre una testimone così giovane intanto che ci raccontava i retroscena del suo passato tremendo, alla ricerca di suo papà, dei suoi nonni inghiottiti come altri milioni di ebrei.

Oggi ha 92 anni e ieri sera ha rivissuto l’incontro con Papa Pio XII con gli occhi di una quindicenne quale era…mi sembrava di vederla lì mentre incrociava lo sguardo di Papa Pio XII.

Sarà perché ho avuto la fortuna di avere le nonne anziane e lucide e gli occhi che ricordano così nitidi non smettono mai di brillare…

Mi è sembrato subito il prologo di un docufilm. L’accurata analisi storica era lì presente.

La Senatrice Segre ha proseguito: “La Storia non si fa con i “se” ma se Papa Pio XII come ha fatto con le braccia aperte su Roma, mi sono chiesta se, con quelle stesse braccia aperte, non avrebbe potuto fermare il treno dei deportati del 16 ottobre 1943. Non sarebbe stato un urlo davanti all’oppressore, un gesto unico che avrebbe cambiato la sua vita e la storia? Una scelta che non ha invece fatto. Eppure il suo tormento era ben visibile. Ricordo che alla fine dell’udienza – eravamo tutti inginocchiati – mi disse: “Alzati, davanti a te mi devo inginocchiare io”.

E mi torna alla memoria quel grande gesto invece di Papa Giovanni Paolo II e le scuse agli Ebrei…i nostri fratelli maggiori.

E la chiusa del libro dell’autore Andrea Riccardi con la sua infinita ricerca e passione chiarisce il ritratto del Papa a noi più semi conosciuto, denso di interrogativi, si è vero dovevamo scoprirlo prima.

Ma va bene anche oggi Andrea, ci hai pensato Tu. Non è facile parlare snocciolando del “silenzio di un Papa”.

Tanta è la ricerca e l’approfondimento necessario. E ci vuole la distanza del tempo e dalle cose, per capire e per tramandare tanto travaglio. Io penso…

Alcune voci di popolo per essere smentite e così chiarite richiedono un’attenta ispezione, indagine, analisi psicologiche dell’intero sistema.

Eh che caratteri, che personaggi ci hai presentato…

Tanta storia, analisi tratta da 40 anni di ricerca nel Vaticano, oltre al fascino del racconto, delle incertezze umane anche così in contatto con l’Altissimo e rimasto in drammatico silenzio…

La presentazione si è conclusa con le sale della Fondazione piene al limite, hanno tributato, ovazione con applauso sonoro.

THE WAR OF THE SILENCE an “exaggerated” presentation.

Andrea Riccardi’s book, The War of Silence. Pius XII, Nazism, the Jews – is such an “exaggerated” presentation in the deepest and most intense sense, as in our Milaneseness we mean when we cadence to want to intend with irony that it’s too much.

In this book, there is nothing ironic it’s really surprisingly “exaggerated”.

Immediately the speech on the understanding of Monsignor Delpini. Oh yes… our Archbishop of Milano opens with a torment that is not an easy solution.

It takes understanding to read history. And history doesn’t judge.

Then the President of the Corriere Della Sera Foundation, Ferruccio de Bortoli, former director of Corriere Della Sera, enters deeply into that restlessness of Pope Pio XII, of his Papacy during World War II.
With that revelation of the Bulgarian Metropolitan Plovdiv Cyril who threatened to lie down on the station platforms to stop the train of Bulgarian Jews headed for Auschwitz…

Liliana Segre was such a young witness while she told us the background of her terrible past, in search of her dad, her grandparents swallowed up like other millions of Jews.
Today you are 92 years old and yesterday evening you relived your meeting with Pope Pio XII through the eyes of a fifteen-year-old as you were… I seemed to see you there while you met Pope Pio XII’s gaze.

I was lucky enough to have elderly and bright grandmothers and the eyes that I remember so clearly that they never stop shining…

It immediately seemed to me like the prologue of a docu-film. The accurate historical analysis was there.

Senator Segre continued: “History is not made with “ifs” but if Pope Pius XII, as he did with open arms over Rome, I wondered if, with those same open arms, he could have stopped the train of deportees on October 16, 1943. Wouldn’t it was it a scream in front of the oppressor, a single gesture that would change his life and history? A choice he didn’t make. Yet his torment was clearly visible. I remember that at the end of the hearing – we were all kneeling – he said to me: “Get up, I have to kneel in front of you”.

And that great gesture comes back to mind instead of Pope John Paul II and the apologies to the Jews… our older brothers.

And the closing of the book by the author Andrea Riccardi with his infinite research clarifies the portrait of the Pope semi-known to many of us, full of questions, it’s true we had to find out sooner.
But Andrea is fine today too, you took care of it. It’s not easy to rattle off the “silence of a Pope”. There is so much research and passion and in-depth study required. And it takes the distance of time and from things, to understand and to pass on so much travail. I think…

Some people’s voices are denied and so make clear, which requires careful inspection, investigation, and psychological analysis of the entire system.
Eh what characters, did you introduce us…

A lot of history and analysis is taken from 40 years of research in the Vatican, in addition to the fascination of the story, of human uncertainties even so in contact with the Highest and remained in dramatic silence…

The presentation concluded with the halls of the Foundation filled to capacity, they paid tribute, ovation with loud applause.
