Gran bel pomeriggio, sole splendente nel cielo blu sull’ARENA BRERA e nel bel parco del Sempione con i colori brillanti della primavera. Ben riuscito l’evento. Alle 18:00 puntualissimi RAI SPORT mi han fatto l’intervista a proposito del mio audiolibro IL FIGHTER D’ITALIA GIANCARLO GARBELLI.

Grazie al mio Comune di Milano, in rappresentanza della Città è venuta il Vice Presidente del Consiglio Comunale LAURA MOLTENI. Ottima l’accoglienza dell’ARENA BRERA, alla Palazzina Appiani del FAI.
Ho voluto e ottenuto l’ARENA BRERA che è una coincidenza della Storia che mi appartiene, per questo l’ho desiderata: GIANNI BRERA scrisse molte volte del “Il Fighter Garbelli”. Fu proprio lui a chiamarlo “Il Fighter”, già negli anni ’50. Due lombardi DOCG. E che lombardi!

Per me l’Arena Brera è un prezioso momento degli anni della mia adolescenza qua ho vinto le 5 gare di pentathlon dei mitici Giochi della Gioventù…La Boxe femminile non è roba della mia generazione in Italia almeno. Il carattere del pugile credo di averlo nel mio DNA…e ieri sera ho dovuto per un momento attivare.

Tutto è fermo eppur si muove…

Ho aperto con la lettura del 1° capitolo per dare l’appiglio alla conversazione con i campioni presenti: LUCA RIGOLDI e SIMONA GALASSI.

Per RIGOLDI si è trattato di cercare uno sport da combattimento che lo realizzasse. Non erano in molti a scommettere su di lui, io l’ho guardato sin dalla prima volta che l’ho conosciuto in libreria Mondadori a Padova, alla presentazione del mio libro con l’immenso amico, caporedattore della Gazzetta dello Sport, DANIELE “il magnifico” READELLI. RIGOLDI non aveva conquistato nulla, nessuno, tranne il suo Mo. GINO FREO le dava credito, io “sentivo” che aveva da dirmi. Conservo certo quella preziosa prima intervista di LUCA “il tenace” RIGOLDI.

Senza storia non c’è presente e né futuro.

Nella Boxe la Storia risale all’antichità, è sport che nasce con l’uomo, e dove le gesta le cantò persino Virgilio nell’Eneide non può essere un “ricordo”.

La Storia da sempre si guarda per essere migliori.

Succede così in tutto il mondo anglosassone e di lingua francese, spagnola e tedesca e tutte le altre a seguire. Noi italiani sappiamo una/due cose di storia…

In me paladina della cultura sportiva, c’è la ferma convinzione che senza passato non si riesce ad orientarsi nel presente. Non tutti i Campioni sanno trasmettere quell’ispirazione.

Ci ho dato dentro con il mio grande Padre, Giancarlo Garbelli geniale, ricco di profondità e d’imprese impossibili, la sua eredità non è dispersa. Il buco da colmare nella cultura sportiva della boxe mi è riuscito e di questo ringrazio la mia determinazione, la cultura e l’azione di 93 anni nella boxe, della mia famiglia sono le mie spalle, gli incontri preziosi con “i boxing writers” che hanno arricchito il mio viaggio di conoscenza ai migliori bordo ring della terra. E certo le centinaia di campioni che mi han dato le loro confidenze.

Ho investito ulteriormente nella produzione dell’intero audiolibro, e certo la distribuzione attuale in rete, favorisce l’ascolto ovunque sei, come se ascoltassi una radio…
Vediamo se riesco a far uscire il gigante: il docu-film. Al fermo per volontà politica della passata legislazione…Mah!
In America sarebbe uscito in prima serata sulle più importanti televisioni, dopo un’escursione nelle sale cinematografiche. Certi docu-film di sport vincono anche l’Oscar.

SIMONA GALASSI solare ci ha raccontato come è arrivata dall’ISEF, al mondo dei giochi di squadra come la pallavolo alla kickboxing, per poi ritrovarsi indiscussa Regina della Boxe” non solo di Romagna…

Ho voluto subito i protagonisti pugili perché sono i “Pugili” che devono essere messi in risalto. Non è tanto ovvio che in Italia succeda…

Poi è intervenuto prof. MARIO STURLA a presentarci il pugile VINCENZO GIGLIOTTI a cui ha passato il microfono, pugile di origini calabresi che vive a Pavia, non potendo sostenersi solo come pugile ha preferito fare l’imprenditore edile. Non poteva fare diversamente.

Il suo pugile di riferimento è GIOVANNI PARISI, ci faceva i guanti in palestra, come lui calabrese. PARISI si è realizzato come olimpionico sino alla medaglia d’oro. Come professionista, ha avuto un rivale impossibile, il più grande messicano JULIO CAESER CHAVEZ sr. che non ha fatto certo le Olimpiadi e così come non le ha fatte il qui presente RIGOLDI.

Ci siamo scambiati opinioni: GIGLIOTTI sostiene che 25 giorni di preavviso erano pochi per un così grande rivale.

Beh il GARBELLI seppe della conferma del match con PAPP tre giorni prima, non era certo che l’Ungheria comunista avrebbe dato quel permesso eccezionale ad oltrepassare la Cortina di Ferro… Superare i confini senza permesso voleva dire sfidare la morte. E ne sono morti tanti…

Non avrebbe mai potuto farcela PARISI vs CHAVEZ sr., ma PARISI voleva l’incontro, DON KING glielo ha dato. Era certo che l’avrebbe perso. Ho una bella intervista di PARISI, che si racconta alla mia telecamera, anche lui sapeva di perdere, ma voleva la sfida. Certe sfide danno brividi indimenticabili. Di questo PARISI ne era orgoglioso.

Ho invitato al mio fianco il Mo. Benemerito GINO FREO, un vero creatore di pugili. Ho sottilineato che pugili si diventa, campioni si nasce. E che tutti gli allenatori sognano che entri in palestra il Campione…FREO umile ma non modesto ha sottolineato che evidentemente riesce ad ottenere la disciplina, a trasmettere la passione. Di RIGOLDI ha avuto la soddisfazione di essere cercato, e questo lo inorgogliosisce ancora di più. Di altri pugili come BOSCHIERO e SANAVIA invece sono completamente nati nella sua palestra di Piove di Sacco, nel padovano. Certi Campioni la mamma non ne fa più…ma il FREO Nazionale sì!

Intanto buttavo l’occhio sul pubblico, su volti amici di attori, di professionisti, di allenatori di boxe, di ragazzi, di attenti a me sconosciuti e signore eleganti, e ho ripreso la lettura dell’impresa geniale: Garbelli vs Papp.

A metà circa, mi sono fermata per dar voce al Presidente del Coni Lombardia ORESTE PERRI, gran campione di canoa con molti allori, già Sindaco della sua Cremona, amante della migliore boxe.
Ha avuto profondità “anche se remi con le spalle al traguardo devi sempre guardare a poppa, a poppa, a poppa…!”

Dal momento che sono anche attrice e dunque il pathos non mi manca, mentre il pubblico era partecipe all’ascolto del mio scritto, ad un certo punto un tale ANDREA LOCATELLI, ha fermato la mia lettura, si è alzato e ha “osato” senza essere invitato, ha preso il microfono per fare il suo spot elettorale. Il tizio è uno che vuole tentare, dopo essere stato segato già la 1a volta di diventare Presidente della Federazione Pugilistica Italiana.

Il tipo l’ho conosciuto circa 12 anni fa come dirigente di una società di diritti TV, Media Patners. Uno che avrebbe dovuto acquisire il mio lavoro…Per me l’uomo che non sa mantenere una parola è un quaraqua. Oppure è un millantatore. Il tizio è sia l’uno che l’altro. Sia chiaro una volta per tutte. É poi passato alla dirigenza di INFRONT e ha condotto con altri della banda fallimentare…

Gli ho risposte per le rime. E qui il DNA della figlia del Campione di Boxe è venuto fuori, l’ho bloccato dicendo: “cosa c’entra interrompermi per fare il tuo spot elettorale”?

Si è allontanato verso l’uscita chiamando SIMONA GALASSI per portarla fuori.

Non esiste una tale mancanza di rispetto! Che cialtrone!

E così il tempo rubato da questo “disturbatore” ha fatto saltare la telefonata programmata al pugile IULIANO GALLO che l’aspettava appena dopo l’intervento alle mani fratturate all’ospedale ortopedico Galeazzi …!

Tutto poi ha ripreso, per concludersi con l’ultimo paragrafo di lettura, sonori gli applausi e poi con forti abbracci, risate, strette di mano e selfie a gogò…

La serata è proseguita nell’ottimo ristorante di Alfredo Zini, IL TRONCO, in zona Isola, con un succulento classico risotto alla milanese, una tagliata trionfante, innaffiata dal buon Chianti e la bocca finalmente stanca del buon giro di formaggi. E i cantuccini di Mamma Anna…Grazie Alfredo.

Successful event at 6:00 pm punctual RAI SPORT gave me the interview about my audiobook IL FIGHTER D’ITALIA GIANCARLO GARBELLI.

Thanks to my Municipality of Milan, the Vice President of the City Council LAURA MOLTENI came to represent the City. Excellent hospitality at the ARENA BRERA, at the Palazzina Appiani of the FAI -Italian artistic heritage.
I wanted and obtained the ARENA BRERA which is a coincidence of the History that belongs to me, that’s why I wanted it: GIANNI BRERA wrote many times about “Il Fighter Garbelli”. He was the one called “The Fighter”, already in the 1950s. Two true Lombards. And what a Lombards!

For me the Arena Brera is a precious moment of my teenage years here I won the 5 pentathlon competitions of the legendary Youth Games … Women’s Boxing is not about my generation, at least in Italy there isn’t any history about it. The character of the fighter is any way in my DNA … and last night I had to activate it.

Everything is still and yet it moves …

I opened with the reading of the 1st chapter to lend support to the conversation with the champions present: LUCA RIGOLDI and SIMONA GALASSI.

For RIGOLDI it was a matter of looking for a combat sport to make it happen. Not many people bet on him, I watched him from the first time I met him in the Mondadori bookstore in Padua, at the presentation of my book with my dearest friend, editor-in-chief of the Gazzetta Dello Sport, DANIELE “il magnifico” READELLI. RIGOLDI had conquered nothing, nobody, except his Maestro GINO FREO gave him credit, I “felt” that he had to talk to me. I certainly keep that precious first interview by LUCA “the tenacious” RIGOLDI.

Without history, there is neither present nor future.

Boxing history goes back to ancient times, it’s a sport that is born with man, and where the exploits even Virgilio sang in the Aeneid cannot be a “memory”.

You look at history to be better.

This is how it’s happening throughout the Anglo-Saxon world and in the French, Spanish and German languages and all the others to follow. We Italians we can teach one/two things about history…

In me paladin of sports culture, there is the firm conviction that without a past it is not possible to orientate oneself in the present. Not all Champions can transmit that inspiration.

I gave myself all with my great Father Giancarlo Garbelli’s genious, rich in-depth, and really impossible fights, his legacy is not dispersed. The hole to be filled in the sporting culture of boxing has succeeded me and for this, I thank my determination, the culture and the action of 93 years in boxing of my family, are my shoulders, then the precious encounters with “boxing writers” that have enriched my journey of knowledge to the best rings of the earth.

I have further invested in the production of the entire audiobook and certainly does the current distribution on the internet, encourages listening wherever you are as if you were listening to a radio …
Let’s see if I can bring out the giant: the docu-film. At the standstill due to the political will of the past legislation … Mah!
In America, it would be released in primetime on the most important televisions, after an excursion in the cinemas. Certain sports docu-films also win the Oscar.

SIMONA GALASSI has told us how she came from the Educational School of Sport, the world of team games such as volleyball to kickboxing, and then until the undisputed Queen of Boxing “not only from Romagna …

I immediately wanted the protagonist’s boxers because they are the “Boxers” that must be highlighted. It’s not so obvious that in Italy it happens …

Then prof. MARIO STURLA to present the boxer VINCENZO GIGLIOTTI to whom he passed the microphone, boxer of Calabrian origin who lives in Pavia, unable to support himself only as a boxer he preferred to be a construction contractor. He couldn’t do otherwise.

His reference boxer is GIOVANNI PARISI, he was sparring in the gym, like he is from Calabria. PARISI was the Olympic champion until the Gold Medal. As a professional, he had an impossible rival, the greatest Mexican JULIO CAESAR CHAVEZ sr. that certainly did not make the Olympics and so as RIGOLDI which is our present.

We exchanged opinions: GIGLIOTTI claims that 25 days of notice were too short a time for such a great rival.

Well the GARBELLI knew of the confirmation of the fight vs PAPP, three days before, it was not certain that Communist Hungary would have given that exceptional permission to go beyond the Iron Curtain … To go beyond the borders without permits meant to challenge the death. And many have died…

PARISI vs CHAVEZ Sr. could never have made it, but PARISI wanted the bout, DON KING gave it to him. He was sure he would lose it. I have a nice interview with PARISI, which is told to my camera, he also knew he was losing, but he wanted the challenge. Certain challenges give unforgettable thrills. He was proud of this PARISI.

I invited Maestro Benemerito GINO FREO, a true boxer creator. I pointed out that you become boxers, champions are born. And that all the trainer dream is that the Champion enters the gym … humble but not modest FREO has emphasized that evidently succeeds in obtaining the discipline, to transmit the passion. About RIGOLDI had the satisfaction of being sought, and this makes it even more proud. On the other hand, other boxers like BOSCHIERO and SANAVIA were completely born in his gym in Piove di Sacco, in the Padova area. Certain Champions the mother no longer makes … but the National FREO does!

In the meantime, I was catching the faces of friends, actors, professionals, boxing trainers, boys, and girls, elegant ladies, and I resumed reading the genial enterprise: Garbelli vs Papp.

About halfway through, I stopped to give the Lombardia President of Coni- National Italian Olympic in Lombardia Region, Committee of Lombardia- ORESTE PERRI, the great champion of the canoe with many laurels, former Mayor of his hometown Cremona, he is a lover of the best boxing.
He had depth “even if I paddle with my back to the finish line you must always look at the stern….at the stern…at the stern!”

As I am also an actress and therefore I don’t miss pathos, while the audience participated in listening to my writing, at a certain point ANDREA LOCATELLI, stopped my reading, got up, and “dared” without being invited, he took the microphone to do his election propaganda. The guy is one who wants to try, after having been sawed the first time to become President of the Italian Boxing Federation.

I met him about 12 years ago as a director of a TV rights company, Media Partners. One who should have acquired my job … For me, the man who can’t keep a word is a quaraqua. Or it’s a braggart. The guy is both one and the other. Be clear once and for all. He then passed to the INFRONT management which led with others in the bankruptcy band …

I have answers to him in kind. And here the DNA of the Boxing Champion’s daughter came out, I blocked him by saying, “What do you have to interrupt me to do your electoral spot”?
He walked away towards the exit calling SIMONA GALASSI to take her out.
There is no such lack of respect! What a useless man!

And so the time stolen by this “troublemaker” blew up the programmed phone call to the boxer IULIANO GALLO who was waiting just after the surgery on the fractured hands at the Galeazzi orthopedic hospital …!

Everything then resumed, ending with the last reading paragraph, the applause sounded and then with strong hugs, laughter, handshakes, and gogò selfies …

The evening continued in the excellent restaurant by Alfredo Zini, IL TRONCO, in the Isola area, with a delicious classic Milanese risotto, a triumphant tagliata, washed down with good Chianti and the mouth finally tired of a good round of cheeses. And the cantuccini of Mamma Anna …Thank You Alfredo!
